CL is the best competition in football no doubt. When Arsenal are in CL, it's a game to look forward to as a fan. But the club is better off not being in it due to the embarrassment in recent seasons. Though it does feel strange not watching Arsenal in CL and just watching it as a neutral

To be honest, I worn out of watching us embarrass ourselves every year in the competition. Considering our budget and revenue which has ranked in Europe's top 8 for the last 5 years, it's embarrassing a team of our caliber can't escape the round of 16 ONCE in 7 facking years. There are lower division teams with a far better chance of winning the FA Cup than we have of winning the CL. There is about as much a distance between us and teams like Madrid, Barca and Bayern than there is between us and some good teams in the Championship.

Our last knockout tie victory was Porto in the 2nd round in the 2009/2010 season. The last time Arsenal had a knockout tie victory in the CL that excited me was against an over the hill Milan team in the 2nd round of the '07/08 season.

Considering what teams with far smaller means like Atletico and Dortmund have done in that time, it's just facking embarrassing. Hell, if Spurs come through Juventus, it would be their 2nd quarter-final trip since we had our last in 2010. That there exists people who still defend such a laughable record is beyond me. The only reason the CL has any relevance to us as long as our specialist in failure remains here is an extra £40m in the bank for a 2nd round trip, and to help us attract top players. As a competitive force, we're an utter waste of space.

Seriously though, great result last night and part me is really happy that he had a great spot to watch it from.

TBH, i think if Ox had the choice he would prefer to watch Liverpool beat Porto 5-0 on the bench rather than watch Arsenal get beat 5-1 by Bayern for the 20th time while playing.

The players we need, want CL football.

The kind of managers we need over the next 10 years, will also want CL football.

The level of sponsorships we need, so as to be competitive over the next decade, also require back-to-back CL campaigns.

It's obvious we need to do everything possible to get back in as soon as possible.
