Sorry but in spite of what he said, Costa wanted to leave; and I believe on more than one occasion.
I miss a focused Costa, but anything less than focused could quickly become a liability.
As far as I can tell, he wanted to go back “home" from the day he came to us and it was a raised subject in 2 Summer transfer windows before he finally got his wish.
I believe he knew as early as January 2017 that he would be leaving the club in the summer. I could be being extremely blinkered here, but whether he could have handled the situation better, I still don’t blame Conte.
And I am sorry but if a player genuinely wants to go (and that’s what I believe) then he has to go. Be it Costa or even Hazard then unfortunately, they have to go and we just have to get the best fees we can for them.
I don't blame Conte for Costa going........

Costa had to go, Any player who wants to leave should be allowed to leave (On our terms).
If Courtois wants to leave then sell him and replace him with someone like Oblak.

Costa wanted out since day one. In hindsight it's a minor miracle that we were able to keep him for as long as we did. His heart was always with Leti.

I have moved on. I'm getting more annoyed that the blame for his departure is more and more getting put on Conte's doorstep.
I think our fans are now romanticising about where we'd be if we still had Costa and are looking for a scapegoat other than the player as to why we don't.

Problem wasn’t letting costa go. It was letting Costa, Chalobah, Ake, Matic all go. Thin squad became dangerously thin and all money was spent trying to just bring it back to thin.
