Welbeck should try out for Centre Back

When Welbeck went up for that header early on I couldn't see how he could miss - but I should have known better as he managed to get it yards wide of the post - his shooting and inability to sniff out chances was nearly at that amazing level tonight too, although the service was poor enough that he didn't have the chance to showcase all of his talents.

I know we were generally mediocre tonight but what I'm getting at is Welbeck has maintained a long term inability to hit the target that is really impressive. Admittedly he doesn't quite have the ability to miss that Yaya SoNoGoals did (he was a unique talent unearthed by our trusty scouts) but I think he's right up there with Nicklas Bendtner. Lacazette is by comparison a novice compared to these guys.

Imagine Welbeck as a centre back, he's quick, he gets to a lot of balls in the air and whenever the ball goes near him in the box it very very rarely ends up in the back of the net.

Well Ox isn't a centre forward and wouldn't renew his contract because he'd given up on Wenger like the rest of us.

Without selling Giroud we don't get Aubameyang and Giroud made it clear he wouldn't stay as a backup without causing ructions because of the World Cup.

As for Walcott it's a toss up with Welbeck - he can't do anything as a centre forward either - just for different reasons.

Welbeck and Walcott should both have been moved on years ago, it's more of Wenger's inability exposed.

Bendtner is twice the player Welbeck is.

That's wrong.

No toss up between Walcott and Welbeck. Walcott goals > Welbeck donkey work

This

Bendtner issue was his personality, not his ability to finish.

Bendtner and even Chamack were more potent than Welbeck

If you play walcott regular he will get a decent amount of goals. May not be good at other stuff, but he’ll chip in with goals and assists. Welbeck playing regular won’t do that

Walcott has done very well at Everton. Turned around a very mediocre team destined for a relegation scrap before he got there. Whether you like him or not his goal scoring and assists record from wide compares with the best.

How did we sell Ox, Walcott, Giroud and keep Welbeck.

Because nobody wants to buy Welbeck.

Just look at the impact Giroud will make with Chelsea. Scandalous how Welbeck is still at the club
