Win 6 In A Row

After the Newport sending off I predicted that we would lose the 6 matches without Saiz,
Now I’m predicting we will win 6 in a row once Saiz has settled back into the team.
The squad at it’s performing best can challenge for the play offs.
Of course this season is over.
I’m still optimistic for next season.

again though JLA, I would love to see a documentary on this subject.... it couldnt' even be reverse gentlemen's sport thing either.. because cricket is regarded as a gentlemens game, when was there last any trouble at the cricket haha....

super interesting eh? - must be a mis-placed passion thing, surly... or maybe the beer at football grounds is stronger hahahahahaha

I think the passion for rugby and football is just different. Both fervent followers of there clubs or national teams, it's just channelled differently - why? for the life of me I've no idea.

Football has become very tribal - for some. The vast majority of fans though, even without any police or steward presence, would just get on fine with each other. There's a menacing minority (these days - not so sure in the 70's & 80's), that in my view cause the problems.

Personally I don't have an issue with chatting to fans before/after a match, regardless of team colours - and have done so outside ER often. More often than not there's a shared respect and common ground.

VOF, could it be that say the rugby supporters see the effort on the field for both sides due the game being so physical? - and the fact they they essentially risk injury literally every second of the game?

that doesn;t explain the better behavior by supporters other sports such as cricket though to be fair?

oh and totally agree about minority these days with football crowds - defo true, cpmpared to 70's 80's

I think that during the 70s and 80's there was so much unrest, especially for the "working man", who tended to follow footie more than "rugger", that many used matches as an opportunity to vent anger, let off steam, lash out. Rugger was very much a more "educated" past time - I think that's a lot to do with it.

These days a lot of these guys are retired and modern day trouble makers hang on to these times, because they feel they can relate to it, or just enjoy a dust up with opposing fans.

Ticket prices these days have the effect of filtering out many is my view, not saying I agree with high prices to do that, I don't.

We've not seen much travelling trouble with European matches or England for a couple of decades either. I do think it was as much generated by the political times as anything.

some good points there VOF....

was thinking that even on the field in football the players don't seem to respect the officials like in other sports either... I wonder if there is any connection there?

and again, totally disgraceful fan behavior at West Ham at the weekend.

I assume these fans would be given a life time ban by the club? - what other steps can clubs take to stop this sort of behavior?

West Ham fans have been sold a kipper, its about time people started standing up to owners on the take

That sort of behaviour is completely the wrong way to go about it. Scares families away from the club, besmirches the name of the club and makes it look unappealing for any prospective buyers.

I hear you geldard, and I utterly sympathize with West Ham fans, however the scenes we saw were totally disgraceful, that behavior is unacceptable on so many levels..
