Safe Standing - how and why ?

MULTIBOARD please Admins

SAFE STANDING - How does it work ?

And is it even wanted by fans ?
From my understanding "rail seating" gets installed so
the seats get bolted upright and everyone has a metal rail
in front of them to hold on thus eliminating avalanches etc
Now, I assume to be SAFE it wuld be 1 person standing for
every seat space so capacity would stay the same and ticketing
is unchanged.
So would the clubs reduce the cost to stand thus losing revenue
or would fans be happy to safe stand at the same price as a seat ?
So which is it and just who benefits ?
Thoughts please guys.

Park Lane at old WHL, and that corner of the shelf - during big games the stewards would not even tell you to sit. It buzzes.

You get Stoke at home and you are up and down like a whore's drawers. Kills the atmosphere stone dead
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends where exactly you are in those stands. In 7 years I haven't been asked to sit down once.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Right at the back of the Park Lane you were ok, but anywhere from the steps down is like a of whack a mole

----------------------------------------------------------------------

At WHL I was in block 31 in the shelf. I think that's where alot of proper lads have always sat since way before the Park Lane was the main stand for atmosphere. The stewards know the rules and don't even go in the toilet at half time as they know they would get dragged out.

Block 33 Park Lane. The stewards had a spell of trying to get us to sit down one year but gave up exasperated in the end.

Like HRH, I'd pay more for safe standing.

Watched a programme of behing the scenes at Dortmund funnily enough. Their Kop end fills up up to 2 hours before kick off cos it's not designated standing spaces so people go to get their best place.

I'd prefer designated safe stand spot to prevent the need for that and also the potential tetchiness of "you're standing in my spot "

Tiny bit though, eh? Used to sit with my mate at the front of 30, and it wasnt like that.

I prefer the back rows of 32, noisy as fack but the ceiling is so low you wonder how much of it gets out. Good view from there, I like a corner angle myself and just about ok height

I wouldn't have swapped my seat for any other in the ground. As I say, not once sat down during the game. Not even been asked to by stewards. Was the 2nd to last row before the exit so maybe that helped but everyone around stood too.

It's not 1:1.

It's for domestic comps only. Seats are locked up.

In Europe it's seat locked down.

Tbh it is one row of standing with 1.8 to 1 capacity. Max..

I didn’t know this

“This is precisely what Tottenham have done for the new White Hart Lane “with sections of the seating bowl designed to accommodate areas of safe standing if the current licensing regulations change” and potential built into the design for the 61,000 capacity to “increase by c 1800 were legislation to change and safe standing areas be approved.”
