Pity Rowett would rather get loanees in from Chelsea rather than promoting our own guys.

I think given our position and what’s at stake he prefers experience over youth to try and get us over the line...

Not a time to chuck in a young ‘un. If we were mid-table then fair enough. Next season I expect Luke to be in the match-day squad if we are in the Championship. If we go up then maybe send him out on loan for half or all of the season.

Look at how the likes of Iwas and Vidals savage Lawrence at every match: this is neither the time nor the place to be blooding youngsters.

The lad Palmer from Chelsea couldn’t cut it at Huddersfield in the Prem and was playing in the Chelsea U23s when we got him ( and that was only because the Lookman deal fell through. So it was a knee jerk last minute thing).
If I was playing in our U23s I’d be wondering why i’d been over-looked.

Well let’s see.
Lost his place to Ince. Got injured and returned to Chelsea. Got fit and Huddersfield didn’t want him back so was playing in The U23s. That’s when we nipped in as a desperate move as the Lookman deal fell through.
We have talented guys in our u23’s who deserve a chance. I would have rather given them a shot. Bringing Palmer in on the back of half of one season for Huddersfield in the championship is not good management for me. It tells our U23s that we don’t trust them.

He played 1 game for their under 23's and was already on route to pride park when the Lookman deal fell through.

He did get injured early in the season and returned to Chelsea but what he did last season was to be a big part of their promotion bid.

So best to see him starting a game before make a judgement on if it was a good move.

Certaiñly not the time of season to be flooding u23's.
