The combination that got away.
Conte likes to centre his teams play around a target man, and it works, Juve played some great stuff with Lloremte as a focal point and last night and Monday with Giroud leading the line we played some excellent football with cute combination play (if you need proof of why Bats didn't work out, watch last night and then watch the Norwich games). Admitedly the opposition was poor, but we played poor opposition in December and January yet were trash.
He also relies on his strikers to be the main source of goals (which wasn't the case during Didiers time here), which brings me to the point of DD11, him in his prime under Conte could have been something very special. It's all hypothetical now but it feels a bit of a shame looking back that they never got to work together.
Drogba under Conte

I don't think Drogba failed to fulfil his potential for us so not bothered
But I see what you're driving at

Agreed, although Drogba at his best would suit a whole lot of top teams. Lewandowski the closest thing out there rn? I think Morata has potential to be all that but is still adapting.

While i definitely can't complain about Drogba's career with us i feel he lacked the league consistentcy. What we are seeing from Kane now should have been DD in terms of sheer consistentcy but he only had a season like that in 09/10.

He wins you trophies, you can’t use Kane to compare yet, for all the goals he’s scored (so far) it’s not that essential
Drogba will have you beat arsenal all day long and scores tons at wembley

Depends how early Conte got to manage him. Coming straight from OM he might've limited him to becoming a generic target man, and we all know in form he was so much more than that.
Post Mourinho I'd agree completely. Would've been a combination of Costa's power and Morata's pace, close to perfect.

Feel drogbas “league consistency”gets blown out of proportion. A few of those years he had injuries and only played around 20 games. Think while with us h managed a goal or assist nearly every other game.
For someone who was not the most technical but who single handedly battled defences that’s a great return. Not forgetting the intangibles and winning mentality he brought.

Only season he was poor was strangely enough the 2012 season and we know how that ended!
