and the correct way to do it. Now the dust has settled on yesterdays FA Cup match at Rochdale, a game Spurs were expected to win easily, instead yet another replay and another extra game into an already busy schedule. Poch simply has not got the hang of this rotation malarkey, Pep at Man City seems to have it completely spot on. You don`t change your whole XI, whoever you are playing, always play at least four or five of your A-listers, ensure you get through at the first time of asking.
Compare Poch yesterday changing the whole team from the Juventus match was pretty well guaranteed to end up as it did yesterday, it always has done, so not overly surprised.
Now Pep`s cup teams take on a completely different format.
3rd Round Burnley: Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, Aguero, Sane all started, they also were all started the previous Prem game against Watford.
4th Round Cardiff: De Bruyne, Walker, Fernandinho, Sterling, Sane (Aguero sub 45) all started, and they all started against Newcastle in the previous Prem game. Also all bar Sterling started in the League Cup against Bristol City sandwiched between the two games.
Is it any wonder Pep for all the money at his disposal, also has grasp of how to get through multiple games at a time, by mixing and matching the team with A listers and Squad players to make it as easy as possible to progress. He could have done like Poch, rested the whole XI, but no he realised that route is absolute fraught with danger, so he picks a lot of his best players, puts the game to bed, no replays, no fuss.
Yesterday the team was crying out for our real match winners to be on the pitch from the start, put the game to bed early, and have a week free of football between Prem games, now the extra game means extra work for the team, not less. The manager does not seem to be a quick learner about these sort of Cup matches.
Anyway what is done is done, we move on now to Palace on Sunday and the Replay the following week. Suggestions for possible team Selection for the two games.
Crystal Palace:
Lloris
Aurier
Verts
Sanchez
Davies
Dier
Dembele
Moura
Eriksen
Alli
Kane
Rochdale:
Vorm
Trippier
Verts
Toby
Rose
Wanyama
Lamela
Eriksen
Moura
Alli
Kane
Hopefully those two teams will be good enough to win both matches.
Rotation, the Spurs way to do it,

Sandy it’s not even rotation, it’s attempting to rest the ENTIRE first team. A policy that has consistently failed to produce results.
It’s such a shame Poch treats this competition with such contempt, it’s not as if he (or we) have trophies coming out of our ears.
This nonsense must stop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So when do we play our b listers if we can't do it against Rochdale?
Just think of the money Newport and Rochdale are making out of us in an era where nowhere near enough money filters its way down to the tier 3/4 clubs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs should not really be in the business of making extra money for other teams. They should be trying to get through domestic cup matches with as little fuss as possible.
The B listers will have to await their turn. They have already had plenty of chances this season to prove themselves, and failed on most occasions, West Ham at home in the the league cup was another failure.
You cannot just play them because it seems the right thing for them to be playing, they have to earn the right to play, as yet most of them are way of the pace of even playing in games like yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane earned the right to play in our Europa team so it can be done. If the b listers don't get the chance to show what they can every so often surely they will become demotivated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have seen what they can do every so often, and it aint good, or certainly not as a cohesive unit. As I said mix and match the team up, and you would see a completely different performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would play the exact same starting 11 for the replay with the words you got us into this mess now get us out of it ringing in their ears.
They are a group of Internationals earning millions of pounds and Poch should remind them of that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we will win the replay regardless of what side we put out. Rochdale will tire on that Wembley pitch, it's knackering if your not used to it, and they won't have a partisan home crowd behind them. We do have to congratulate them for yesterday, they were far better than some of the Orem teams we have faced this year, Stoke at home springs to mind
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes on their 1st half performance they deserve a replay and I agree that it will be a relatively comfortable win.

i would have started Kane and Lamela yesterday but other than that poch picked players i would have. it was good enough to win the players were just half arrsedd and it happens everytime. we dont know even if we starting the first XI if we would have won anyway. but it echo's my point of the importance of eriksen..just take him out and the team would be no better off than when you make 11 changes.

Shouldn`t have needed him in the first game, but we did.

We wont need Kane in the replay at Wembley against Rochdale.
But we do need to replace Trippier and Winks..

If Kane don’t play then any 3 of Eriksen, Dele, Moura & Lamela behind Son. We can’t risk playing with 10 men in the replay.

Kinda fun to see City camped out in the Wigan penalty area, peppering their goal and getting nuthin in the net.
Reminded me of Spurs before harry Kane!
