Want him to do well but really don’t understand why we’ve hired him. Stinks of a cheap option and a complete and utter punt on someone who is used to losing in this division.

Justify his bad form at Barnsley by saying it’s barnskey and players were sold etc but if he experienced that same form here for rest of this season then I really struggle to see how anyone can think he is the answer for our supposed promotion push next season.

PH has said he’s happy with system here ie Orta so that isn’t going to change either.

After great start, it could well all go te ets up for AR if he is spending money hand over fist on players, thinks Orta is doing a good job and thinks managers like PH will take us to the promised land.

My gut feel is that PH won’t be here start of next season.

On your last point Jonty, if history tells me anything it is that Paul will be here at the start of next season but sacked the day after the transfer window closes, neither he nor his successor will have any chance to influence incomings in the closed season. A poor start to next season will be blamed on PH with AR coming out saying he appointed the wrong man.

Acid, half of me us wondering if PH appointed as they have their eye on someone else but can’t get him till post season.

Think it's fair to say AR's honeymoon period is well and truly over where the majority of fans are concerned.

Didn't we pay Barnsley half a mill in compensation or something - surely that means something re the nature of AR's intentions? He is gambling, again, on appointing a younger coach, someone who apparently has the ambition and the talent to break through.

PH said that if you want to progress to applying for coaching jobs in the PL, you have to have a promotion on your cv. But does he have the talent and will he get enough time to show us what he can do?

There's a lot riding on the appointment for AR too, reputation-wise, and maybe he's locked up the cheque-book now so, unless we do a complete nosedive in the next couple of months, PH will stay at least until Christmas, I reckon.

Oh and giving Pablo a new contract is a no-brainer, imho.
