Other than Pan’s Labyrinth del Toro’s movies are so incredibly average/poor that all seem to follow the same rather unpleasant aesthetic. The reason Shape of Water seems to be getting so much love is because it celebrates the golden age of Hollywood and creates a dream like state of nostalgic America.
Disappointing that Florida Project has got such little attention in regards to awards but then the Oscars mean f-ck all.

Incredibly average and overrated movie (like most del toro films). Boring characters and story and the grading was horrible.

Boring characters? The Richard Jenkins character was brilliant as was Michael Shannon’s.
The Oscars does still means something as we’re seeing with Three Billboards doing so well with noms. A truly great movie. Agree about Florida Project though. Excellent as was Phantom Thread which slipped under most people’s radars

Robb, have you got "The BBQ" in your sights?
Shane Jacobson and Magda Szubanski!
I expect many a nomination coming for this film.

I might give it a miss as I hated Kenny 😸

That's pretty amazing. You must've only seen some very fantastic films in your life. Keep up the good track record

You actually liked that dross, horses for courses, just think Del Toro is vastly overrated.
