Suck my D***

The words allegedly said to Aguero by the fan he had a bust up with before the fan spat in his ear.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sergio-agueero-claims-wigan-fan-spat-at-him-2n2bs0ztl

(I know this link wont show the whole story, but I got it via Give me Sport and I didnt want to post their link)

Even under such provocation I think a professional football paid millions for his privileged position should show restraint. However I can understand him getting angry and responding to the abuse. and he didnt hit the bloke (although I think he would have if he wasnt restrained).

I'm expecting the bloke involved to get a lifetime ban from Wigan. Under these circumstances I support Aguero in this one.

Ok got a bit more time now.

There is no condoning what city fans did. Regardless of what anyone else does, fans ripping down hoardings and throwing them at the police is something that should have been left in the eighties. It’s obscene and there’s no place for it.

In terms of the run up to it, as it was a Cup game, there was a higher than usual away allocation and given the result, it was pretty obvious there would be a pitch invasion for the last ten minutes. There wasn’t additional police or stewards though and the pitch invasion involved Wigan fans going over to the city end to wind them up and were beckoning some onto the pitch.

It doesn’t condone what then happened, but I highly doubt you’d have had the subsequent behaviour if the pitch invasion either didn’t happen or there was the appropriate amount of stewards and police to ensure it was kept as a peaceful and positive one and the right amount of segregation kept in place.

That’s why you have the conciliatory comments from the Wigan chairman afterwards and City considering making a complaint (which I don’t think, and hope we don’t do).

Ideally, that shouldn’t be needed and people should be mature enough not for it to descend into the childish behaviour it does. It still isn’t an ideal world though, that’s why stewards and police are needed. Some people once they step inside a stadium seem to lose sense and crowd behaviour then kicks in.

None of it should distract from what the real story should have been, which was an excellent performance from Wigan and a deserved win.

Aguero shouldn't lower himself to fighting with such a prole.

yeh leave it Winston
Even Warnock said the blame lay with Wigan as they weren't expecting to win the game and hadn't made any preparations for a pitch invasion

Where did I talk about who was to blame?

I'll wait.

I don't disagree.

My point, though, was that the incident carried on after Wigan fans had been dispersed.

That to me means that some City fans were waiting for an opportunity to act as hooligans and thoroughly enjoyed doing so.

Those people go to football matches prepared to cause trouble and it's more than feasible that they would have done so regardless of Wigan's fans.

I’m not sure, I’ve heard different reports from people that were there. I’m sure there were some like that though, I alluded to them in my post.

Is winston still convinced we are the route of all evil and only city fans are guilty of all and any crimes.

Well yes, but I was responding to your initial posts.

Anyhow, it seems we largely agree.
