How to solve the problem of the 2nd striker

Yesterdays thread by AFTP about goals scored got me thinking...

How an earth do we solve the 2nd striker issue we currently have?

When we signed Llorente I can not hide the fact I was happy. We had beaten Chelsea to a signing of a striker who I assumed would be good back up for kane, happy to sit on the bench and earn his crust as and when needed. I felt Llorente was a good backup option and would chip in when needed with goals and at worst a few goals here and there. I felt it was good business all round and good for us. looking at his record in the past made me think he would be a good fit. an old head, bit of experiance etc.

Fast forward to the present and i find myself thinking his not the right fit for us and how we play and he is showing nothing of his past self at this point in time. Now i cant lie and state I have seen him play live as I do not get to Wembley much and i have only viewed him on Streams of TV. 2 goal return so far and under par performances. in my opinion i have not seen much of a national squad striker.

Am i being to harsh on the guy due to limited playing time? Will he put in better performances going forward when called upon and make me eat my words? Will he be sold in Jan? how do we fix the option of the 2nd striker due to Harry's dominance and how the team are set up? Anyone coming through the ranks worth a punt next season to play from the bench?

What is everybody's thoughts on this. i'm genuinely interested to hear and read.

Alli isn't a good enough at passing or positioning to be a central midfielder, and he's not strong or quick enough to be a proper striker, nor does he have the positioning. He's a halfway house, an attacking mid who wants the glory of a striker and doesn't want to bother with the simple stuff that a more complete midfielder has to do - the easy passes, the unselfish work. That's why I don't see him ever becoming a truly top-tier player.

I don't like Alli, in case that wasn't clear

Llorente is not a back up to Kane, he is an alternative imo. Llorente can not replace Kane and provide similar, they are different styles of forwards and Llorente would be a good plan B if we ever resorted to that. We always play the same way though, which makes the signing of Llorente quite strange.

think that's harsh but love the honesty.

I like Alli but do agree with your comment. Which is why I've said before that if Coutinho-type offers came in for him I would happily approve of it being accepted.

I think he is the most replaceable of the high value players we have. Saying that, I'd rather keep him and add quality to the team.

Why not play a youngster as striker to bring on? It’s not like they can do any worse than soldado, Janssen or Llorente
