As we are coming close to the weekend, where both sides will lock their horns, in a battle for top four finish. So it got me thinking, what would be the best combined starting line up if we were to pick from both sides ?
Here is mine, I am going with a 3–4-2-1 system
———————-Morata—————————
———Hazard ————-—Sánchez———-
Alonso ———Cesc——Kante——-Valencia
———Bailly ——Christensen——-Azpi———-
——————-Courtois—————————-
Subs: DDG, William, Luiz, Martial, Emerson, Moses and Lukaku
Coach : Conte
GK - This one was very hard to chose from. Both GK’s are exceptional. An hibrid of both GK’s would make an incredible GK. I have gone for Courtois because he is better at controlling his area, but DDG is better shot stop keeper (one of the best in the world).
Defence- I have gone for Azpi (one of the best natural defenders in the Epl atm), Christensen is by the best option in the CB, who is also very comfortable with the ball. Bailly like Azpi is a natural defender.
FB- I have gone for Alonso, actually he is very underrated player for what he brings to the team. He is threat going forward and a master at free kicks.
Valencia on the right is a solid defender, also a better option offensively than Moses.
DM - Kante, we all know about his qualities defensively, so there shouldn’t any contest over this choice.
AM- obviously, Hazard and Sanchez are by the the best options here.
ST: I picked up Morata because of his ability to link up play with both Hazard and Sanchez would be brilliant. Since both (Lukaku and Morata) scored similar amount of goals so far, Morata has the edge, because his overall play is a lot better than Lukaku.
Bench:- picked up the best available players with the view to cover every area of the pitch
Coach - This was an easy choice to make: Conte
But who would make your combined XI if you had to pick of both teams and why ?
Man Utd & Chelsea Combined XI

Level above implies a big difference between the two.
..............
There is at the moment. DDG has plenty of time to become as good as the great Dane was.

He already is as good as schmeichal, he’s better imo. You’re being too nostalgiac about schmeichal. He was a great keeper, but De Gea is a great keeper too.

...............
No he Is not.
At shot stopping, yes.
At commanding his area, no
At distribution, no, not even close. Big Pete could throw the ball more accurately than Dave can kick it.

De Gea is a better shot stopper than schmeichal was and his command of his area is fine. Distribution is great, but shot stopping is more important anyway.

It is all part of being a goalkeeper, as is commanding your area.
Come on Wahl, surely you have a bit of football knowledge?

Shot stopping is more important than distribution. Being a very good shot stopper is required to be considered a very good keeper, but very good distribution is not. You can have just ok distribution and still be a world class goalkeeper.
And De Gea is a better shot stopper than schmeichal was. He’s the best shot stopper I’ve ever seen.

Erik, Schmeichel was a great shot stopper. Just watch a video of his best saves. Another area of his game that I should have mentioned early was his ability in one on one situations. He is the only keeper that I have ever felt was favourite when an opposition player was clean through. I think that was partly due to how intimidating he was which put doubts in his opponents' minds. He was also amazing at reading his opponent and pouncing at exactly the right moment.

Schmeichel was a very good shot stopper, but de Gea is just the best I’ve ever seen. It’s not just the quality of the saves as well, but he makes them so often as well. He’s so outstanding to me. I have never seen any goalkeeper save a top team as often as David De Gea saves Manchester United.
I’m not sure about the one on one thing though, I’ll have to look that up.

Erik apart from this season DDG has had like around the lowest saves per game in the premierleague lol. BTW you say we are undeserving of a CL place but the fact is last season we finished 6th and Chelsea finishd 1st despite us dominating games more than Chelsea.
