I assume Luke is not 100% as he is not on the bench. Although I like Whiteman, I did not think this is his role. I expected it to be Houghton. I'm less confident now, and expect us to lose, but hope not!

Marquis easily MOM never stopped working, battled hard and took his goal brilliantly. 4 points dropped against these this season not good enough from the players through to the manager and coaches.

After a great, gritty, 90 minutes it was a bit of sickener to lose goals in the 93rd and 103rd minute - the latter time as quoted by the BBC. Given that there was supposed to be 12 minutes of injury time...My mate thought Fergie was daft to substitute Houghton for Copps before their set piece. His theory is that this sort of thing disrupts the marking, and he may have something, given that their player appeared to be unchallenged. And quite what Marosi was attempting to do in the final minute is beyond me. With the player having turned away with the ball perhaps instead of clattering him he might usefully have waited to see what might happen next. We went there not expecting much so any disappointment is for players like Marquis and Copps who really didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

We were well worth a point today and I thought we would get it.
Anderson going off was a big moment in the game as he had dominated their forwards but what was Ferguson doing making that change just before they launched that free kick into our box for the equaliser.
All defensive concentration lost for a vital moment.
Looking at the highlights I don’t think it was a pen, their player just fell over Marko.
Will the manager drop him next week now?
Copps rolled back the years again with another masterclass and he was my MoM, just shading Marquis out for that honour.
Anderson had a great first half and I would like get him signed on for next season.

Bringing all the wazit- a-pen comments together, DF's endorsement of the decision shows that he is trying to ingratiate himself with the Referees Union - nothing more.

Ideally, as Albi suggests, Marosi would have been better waiting to see what the attacker would do with the ball. However his decision was to go for the ball which he had an equal chance of reaching as the attacker who fell over him. In fact the attacker got a touch on the ball a microsecond before Marosi whose sole intention was to capture the ball as could be seen by the way he stretched out for it rather than stretching across the path of the attacker. It was the archetypal 50:50 ball. But the referee gave himself no time to reflect or seek a second opinion and chose the crowd-pleasing emotional decision. On this type of challenge there are referees now who do not instantly react and I just hope that this one, when he sees it again in slo-mo, will recognise his mistake and perhaps feel a tinge of guilt and that next time he will try to maintain the impartiality that his professional duty requires.

Things happened in this game that has been happening for far too long. How can we just switch off at the end of so many games. Never a penalty as, according to some rovrum fans after game our keeper got to the ball first. Marquis was outstanding, he was on his knees at the end as the scored that pen.
The thing what will stick in my mind is, 3 rovrum fans from work all said the same thing. They were slightly the better slightly the 2nd half, then you took your captain off and you just lost your fight. Seem to give up the chase. But the big one is the golden rule of never making a substitution when defending your own box.

It may be that my computer tends to speak American English, but it seems you mis-read that I said. It was 2-1 to Rotherham and a crowd of 11903 - worth a little more than 2 points! When they got the penalty I wanted them to miss although it would give me the correct score.

A very frustrating ending!
With DF saying it was a penalty and Marco should not have gone for the ball like that, I assume it is “Hello Lawlor” in the next game. I must agree with Hound that I did not think it was a penalty and was surprised when the ref. pointed to the spot. 10 years ago it never would have been a penalty – remember in the play-off final the Leeds’ GK taking down, I think it was Hayter, early in the game? For years it was very rare for a penalty being given against the GK, but things have changed. Was it two seasons ago that Courtois got a red twice for Chelsea (I think one was for handling outside the area) – at least now if the ref deems the GK was going for the ball it is “only” a yellow. Marco’s collision with Anderson was bad – he should have been screaming “leave it to me”; maybe he was. If this had not happened we would have won – Anderson was controlling the middle of the defence, and subduing their attack.
I’ve been a critic of Marquis this season, but it does not get much better than the way he scored yesterday. I loved how he took the player one way by appearing to go to his right, switching to his left and firing in a great shot. I hope this means he has rediscovered last season’s scoring boots! The goal shows what can result from the hassling Kiwomya and Marquis do – and a great back-heel from Kiwomya.
I hope the injuries do not mean we have lost Beestin and Anderson for the rest of the season.
