Times: Spurs willing to sell Toby

According to Times Sport, Spurs will not match his wage demands of £150,000 a week stating £110,000 is their final offer. So it looks like Poch and Levy have agreed he can go......bad news.

I’m shocked how everyone is going on like this won’t affect us and we have players that can’t step in straight away.

This is looking exactly like the Walker situation. Toby deserves the cash.

What’s point of Kane scoring a hattrick if we lose 4-3 etc. We were 2-0 down to Juve in under 10 mins because of lax defending.

I’m sorry but I think this is a big mistake. Poor MP having to make excuses and justify leaving Toby out of games. SMH. Penny pinching again.

on the point of Pochettino "having to justify leaving toby out of games", I think Poch's gave honest and valid reasons.
Toby said he thought he was fit.
Poch said he didn't agree.
I think Pochettino is right. he wants his player fully fit and not likely to be re-injured.

everything else in this discussion is smoke & Mirrors. Nobody outside the principle actors knows what's going on. The player has said nothing.

He’s not sharp enough right now for a game vs Juventus though. Clearly saw that vs Rochdale.

I didn’t mean to play him against juve. Merely pointing out how much of a difference he makes to the overall team that’s all.

Look I know we can’t go and start throwing millions of pounds and spend likenits going out do fashion. But we are not Portsmouth. We are not going to do a Leeds. Levy has us on sound financial ground and kudos to him.

But this stadium is obviously gonna put us on another level (levy and MP have both said this themselves). So why not start to lay down markers as the commercial aspects are going to follow so we are not exactly gambling on a what if.

We want to be big players and be treated like a big club. We need to start acting like one.

We are, not sure why you think Spurs are not. Brand new stadium, consecutive finishes 2nd, 3rd, challenging for yet another top four finish, deep into the cup competitions.

Do you remember when Spurs used to get dumped out of every cup competition by the end of January, and usually finished roundabout 12th in the table?

We do not do enough to push ourselves forward.

Selling Toby potentially to a rival. How silly is that.

Look at walker if he doesn’t play for city who they got playing right back? Would they be conceding more arguably yes they would.

I suspect Toby’s been tapped up but we need to make a statement keep him and buy quality for the squad.

I am confused by your initial remarks - once the stadium is open revenues will skyrocket and the foundations are there to consolidate and build, even taking into account the increased debt etc we will still be in a much, much, much helathier and stronger financial footing then currently.

So no we are not comparable to Portsmouth/Leeds who gambled and ultimately messed up due to bad housekeeping at board level.

Also yes i do remember the bad days, I think you have been watching Spurs much longer than me (I am 35 and really started to follow football from around 1994) but i remember players like Tramezanni, Fenn, Docherty, Rasiak and dark days like 7-1 away at Newcastle etc etc and nearly going down at Wimbledon.

But that was more to do with Alan Sugar and his underwhelming Amstrad based philosphy to football chairmanship. Thats another story altogether.

Do revenues really "skyrocket" though? Yea they will improve but in comparison to TV money, for example, they are pretty insignificant. The new stadium, IMO, makes as a more attractive "product" and therefore fives the chance to attract younger fans or foreign fans because we ate more "fashionable".

Spurs are doing absolutely the right thing in almost everything. If that me and we won't now down to Tobys demands then so be it. Who are we to tell the club that another £40,000 a week for 4 years should just be agreed - that's £2m right there and the impact on other players would make it tens of millions. We are progressing, don't think that won't continue.

Please excuse the various autocorrects above

granted that "matchday" income is not ultimately a gamechanger but even then the extra £50m or so a season (Arsenal make around £99m compared to our £45m or so) gate reciepts, it still a big amount per year.

But addressing your point i think "overall" revenue will skyrocket and the results will be properly seen 2-3 after the move. I think we are now around £305m revenue per year, this stadium make no mistake with the way i believe it will be marketed to coroporate clients due to the NFL affiliations etc will be a game changer. i think you will see some very clever revenue and sponsorship deals by Levy i.ee "cornerstone" sponsorships around the satdium. We may or may not get a mega naming rights deal outright but i think if he adopts the popular US model of stadium cornerstone sponsors we could land some massive income.

It would be unprecedented in the EPL/UK but is common in the USA and I think will quickly become the norm in new stadiums like the preojected stamford bridge and even adopted by emirates and old trafford where im suprised it hasnt yet.
