Wolves v Reading Match Preview [LIVE]

On Saturday 3rd March Wolves welcome Reading to Molineux for the second of 4 successive televised games. Once again, due to being on Sky Sports, the game will have a 5.30 kick off time.
After a disappointing performance last Saturday when Wolves were outplayed by a well organised and confident Fulham side, Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking for an immediate response from his players with a win being the only acceptable result for the table toppers. They will again be without midfield ace Ruben Neves due to suspension however, Nuno has everyone else available and he may be tempted to change things round a little in an attempt to freshen things up.

As a result of the loss at Craven Cottage, the chasing pack are viewing the top of the table with growing interest. Currently, Wolves have a 6 points gap between themselves and second placed Cardiff City and a 10 points lead over third placed Aston Villa. As a result of the late kick off, they may go into this game with those gaps reduced to 3 points and 7 points respectively.

Reading, in 18th place in the league and just 4 points above the relegation zone, are on a poor run of form at the moment. Since the start of the year their only win is against (then) bottom of the league Burton Albion and in those 12 games they have accumulated just 6 points.

Wolves have also had a dip in form recently with two draws and a loss in their last 3 games. This has caused consternation in some quarters but the more pragmatic Wolves fans have had their feelings summed up by two ex-Wolves players:

“It is two draws and a loss," said Chris Iwelumo.
“Is that the wheels coming off? This is Wolves’ little sticky patch and every team will go through it in the Championship.
“They’ve got a cushion there. They can afford to drop points.
“The players believe in exactly what the manager is putting to them – and they are putting it into action."

And Dave Edwards had this to say, “It is six points but, on a personal level, I just think Wolves are too good.
“I said, maybe three or four games into the season, they could be on for a record-breaking season.
“You look at the quality they’ve got, I was lucky to enough to work there in pre-season and see what the manager is all about.
“He is top drawer and then you implement all the players in his arsenal as well, it is going to be a really successful team – not just this season.
“I think they’ll go on to the Premier League and go again. I don’t think they’ll be cannon fodder for the big boys.

The Welsh midfielder, who will line up against Wolves for the struggling Royals on Saturday, added: “It is all but over."

Gem’s prediction: 3-0

All this talk of cold weather and the snow, I had to look up the word snow on wikipedia.

I see Tallahassee got it's first in 28 years a few months ago

We haven't had much here this year actually, was than the average but a nor'easter is hitting now and making things ugly with wind rain and a bit of snow.

Good for good birds

A poll on twitter this week that got about 1,400 responses asked which of our centre forwards would you want us to sign in the summer if we go up;

Afobe 13%
Bonatini 19%
Both of them 11%
Neither of them 57%

Think we'll need better than either next season, one of the two would be decent back up

I think that is how it will be as well.

Strange situation we are in really striker wise, none on our books will likely feature next season in anything more than desperate circumstances if at all.

Pleased the Cardiff game is off. I think if they got to within three there would have been some more pressure on tomorrows game

For threadsters in Wolves how likely is the game to go ahead tomorrow? I recognise much depends on safety to approach to ground etc, so how much snow is there? Can’t see me making tomorrow, be 2nd home game missed this season if I don’t. About 8 inches on ground now in Herefordshire, 2-3 foot drifts in places and still snowing. Pretty much trapped in village for weekend I think! Think the local pub is calling 😀

If the game was scheduled for 17:30 today then it would definitely be on. There is snow on the ground, but not much, and it is bloody cold, but no threat to the game.

As for tomorrow we will see. There is snow forecast overnight and tomorrow morning and if that happens in any volume it could be off. But they forecasted similar last night and not much happened, just cold

Cheers. Hope it does go ahead regardless. Think we need to get this one out of the way. Can at least catch it on Sky.

I like Bonatini. He has been poor recently and he possibly won’t make the step up, but I think his all round game is good; he just lacks pace.

If we sign neither, I would expect us to move for two strikers in the summer. Both would need to be an upgrade on what we have at the moment. As Bonatini is available for only £5 million, I would expect is to sign him as back up to a big name signing on a short term basis if he doesn’t cut it.
