Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil became the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League assists, doing so in just 141 games and breaking the record held by former Manchester United forward Eric Cantona (143 games).

Please express your appreciation here, or bang on about him being lazy or some such gibberish for no reason at all.

I've actually been surprised by the type of player Ozil has been for us.

When I saw him at Madrid he was much more direct and always looked to feed those early through balls.

I think playing with Giroud for so long got rid of that aspect of his game and he became much more an orchestrator of the attack rather than an out and out creator. Would like to see him try a few more risky passes with our new attackers.

2010 WC he was basically dominating every midfield with setting the tempo as well as being the primary creative. He's not lazy for them either even currently...but its different with Arsenal for some reason. But your whole team isn't exactly known for pressing.

How posters can say his 'absolute record' has been blown out of the water is pretty funny! Er, if that were true, he would have the record..
--------------
It's really not that hard to understand. Ozil is the fastest ever PL player to hit 50 assists. 50/141 = 0.35. Fabregas, while not being the fastest to 50 (naturally, given he started playing in the PL when he was 17 rather than in his prime, as Ozil did), had something like 55 in 104 games in his peak years for Arsenal. 55/104 = 0.53. Massive difference.

"Fastest to 50" is another one of these meaningless records that's based on completely arbitrary criteria. An electric car can do 0-60mph quicker than most high-performance diesel cars? So what? In the end a Ferrari will always trump a Tesla for range and performance.

I think you misunderstood "record" (as in his track record i.e. 50 assists in 141 games) vs "the record" (as in, fastest ever player to 50 assists)

Wether you apreciate the record or not, it IS a record, full stop. Inventing different records of your own and claiming the other record has been beaten is absurd.
Ozil broke a record, the BBC etc thought it was worth reporting, and I, as a true Arsenal fan, thought it was worth a mention. Why you have to get your scientific calculator out to try and prove an Arsenal player isn't very good is just plain weird. I suggest you take up train spotting or something, you badly need a hobby.

I didn't claim anything's been beaten. You really need to read back my comments. I actually added an extra comment to help clarify your confusion.

OK mate. So basically, discussing football on a football forum is sad and I need to get a life. Also, LOL at your calculator jab. I'm quite happy that I've got a good grasp of maths mate. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Don't let people tease you for wanting to read and learn etc. It'll help you get ahead in life

Agree with renoog but it's still impressive and his chance creation/assists stats are very good, my issue with Ozil is he can create chances out of nothing but still be anonymous in general play and a liability when he goes missing, compared to someone like De Bruyne who creates just as much but dominates games and is involved in everything City do, and scores more as well.

Calm down son. An Arsernal player set a PL record, I just thought it was worth mentioning. Nowhere did I say he was better than Cesc or anyone else.
If Ozil played for Spurs you lot would cream your pants over him. Call yourself Gooners when all you wanna do is criticise one of our best players.

His 50 assists here. Surprising how many assists are aerial balls into the box actually, very few through balls in there.

Crosses 713
Through Balls 111
Accurate Long Balls 223
