I’m not gonna lie I don’t rate Gareth Southgate in the slightest, to put him at the helm of England is a joke. In his managerial career has he done anything to qualify as an international manager? He got middlesborough relegated that’s about it.
However what has really taken the biscuit for me is his squad choice for these 2 friendlies. How has Jake Livermore, Lewis Cook and Ashley Young made this squad. The most uninspiring choices why doesn’t he just give Wayne Rooney the nod. Make him captian!!
Is no one else baffled that Ryan Sessgnon hasn’t got a whiff, absolute joke. He’s 17 and tearing it up. We did it with Rooney, Owen, Walcott and Lennon. Why can’t give this guy a chance? I’d start him there only friendlies give him some experience. Jake Livermore letthat sink in.

I'm happy to see Hart in the World Cup squad if he is good to have around off the pitch, we need three keepers after all. I definitely don't want to see him starting though.

Worst inclusion is Tarkowski.
Says he won’t pick Smalling because he’s not comfortable in bringing the ball out of defence and passing it - fine...
... Burnley have played the fewest passes in the league this season (10,583) and have played the most long balls this season (2,362). Do people expect me to believe he’s bringing the ball out of defence like Beckenbauer in his prime whilst the rest of his teammates just hoof it?
I don’t rate Smalling, but at least show some consistency in your reasoning.

It makes no sense even taking into account the limited options he has available to him. He wants to play a certain way, he’s been vocal about that, but Burnley don’t play in that style at all, so how can he possibly have shown he’s got the credentials he’s looking for - a ball-playing defender?
