More than at any time in our recent (and maybe not so recent) past, we are short of natural leaders and I feel it's time to call in a few key players that many would consider past it – players who know how to grind out a win but also set an example and pass on their knowledge to the youngsters. This is how we reached greatness with our two best-ever sides – in the mid-60s with Bobby Collins and in the 90s with Gordon Strachan, and Gary McAlister. These guys were the backbone of their respective teams and legends every one. Since dropping out of the Prem, we've continually gambled on young, unproven talent - most of whom have turned out average, to put it mildly – and the heroes we have had, have long since left. Get a few old heads on shoulders in and it will lift morale and help turn things around in the new season. I'm talking your Tim Cahills, John Terrys, Chris Bairds – leaders to a man. Anyone agree?

Not many clubs have leaders any more
Society is different now.
The problem we have is lack of good players, that’s the problem not having leaders

Do we have anyone who might fit the bill in the current bunch, Pablo? Pontus? Ayling? Forshaw? will they become the stuff of legends?

Might not seem it but I am quite upbeat about the squad, I think there is quality there, just haven't had the coach to tap into it and not enough to bring us up.

next season i would have forshaw as captain, i don't think pontus will be with us, but depends very much on who radz brings in....at the moment the rest players are soft touch

I would bet my house on Pontus being with us next season, people seem to overlook the fact that since he came back from his ban he hasn't missed too many games. He has hero status but look how many games we have lost with the guy at the heart of our defence, Pennington cannot be to blame for very goal we have shipped. Nobody is going to come looking.

It's always a player in the twilight of his career...They have a wealth of knowledge about the English game and for some as they get older it all just clicks into place and they can make miracles happen. It usually all falls into place for them after a rest from football and so up until that point nobody will realise their great potential. ....This is how the greats like McAllister and Strachan came to be....They were always good but when it clicked they were almost unstoppable. I am one such person but unfortunately I'm not in football ( I have other skills). I have given you all the clues so it should be simple now to find that special player who will resurrect this team. Trust me for I am wise!

Did I really type that? lol

Unfortunately, in our current predicament, any heroes that are unearthed will move up the rungs of the football ladder.
