Poignant words, Mags

Those of us who are old enough to remember that dreadful day (and there are quite a few on here who are) will always have an ache in our hearts at the lives taken away and ruined by a tragic accident

Thanks for the headsup on this The Duke and for the link STB. My Dad told me he was at this game and left about 5 mins before the Rangers goal using the same steps, but he was already down the street when it happened. I don't really know much about the Ibrox disaster in truth though, even as a Gers' fan, bar what I've read, so it'll be good to hear something more on it.

Tearful listening.

I'm surprised the first disaster never ever gets mentioned though, as a stand collapsed in 1902, killing 25 people. I know even less about that, but it still should be remembered imo. It's maybe as we have not much emotional link to it with families telling us stories etc who were at the game. But still it should be remembered in some small way. I hope the victims if we know the names etc are on the memorial garden once built, as well as the second disaster.

Yeah I hope so as well. It's because it's 1902 and 2 would wars happened after it may not get mentioned. But they lost their lives prematurely at the stadium, so I hope they are remembered. Be wrong if not imo.

It is remembered Castle, as are the two killed in 1961

There are plaques for all three disasters on the John Greig statue outside exit 14 👍

Thanks for that Curly, do you know what? It's crazy I didn't even know that, I walk past the statue obviously all the time, but I never noticed the other disaster was mentioned on it. Maybe because I didn't really think about it until now and you miss things in plain sight sometimes.

I’ll check this out. Was before my time so I’m probably more ignorant on it than I should be.
