In order to grow as a team

We need to stop buying so many players all the time.

Obviously we’ve had different managers since Fergie so they’ve each wanted to put their own stamp on the team but how can we expect the team to perform at a high level if we’re constantly chopping and changing the squad.

Fergie was the best there ever was at rebuilding a team once a successful side came to its end and when he left the team definitely needed rebuilding but my god we need some consistency. No one could say that our squad/first team isn’t good enough, they’re not playing well enough and managerial styles may have something to do with it, maybe not but one thing I am certain of is that our team has changed farctoo much over the past 4 years.

Once mourinho goes I think he will leave behind a great team and squad, he usually does.

Our patience has run thin so we’re being too gung ho with both player and managerial changes, this needs to stop.

What you guys think? Do ou think the huge amount of player changes has been a major factor of our lack of consistency in the league? Or is it just something else?

wev'e got some good players (we also have some average ones), however the manager just cant get a tune out them individually or collectively.

Get a manager /coach who will let them express themselves and things will improve.

Wouldnt give him another penny to spend until he does.

Player and manager turnover has certainly had a major impact on the lack of consistency in the league over the last few years. That said, we are on course for 80+ points which isn’t a huge amount off where we usually were under Fergie. Problem is City are a different level of consistency.

Think the op has a point here, constant influx of players would take a special manager to mould fast. We don’t have a special manager, we have a chequebook manager, who dazza want to stay for a very long time

Ederson and Walker are the only regulars there that have greatly benefited City this season. Their signings from last summer and before having more time to play together under Pep has made as big a difference to their level this season.

1 and 2 are fair points, but familiarity within the team also plays a huge part in consistent league campaigns. History shows this.

I think it does. As well as coaching issues. The problem is we still need quite a few signings as there’s also a lack of quality in certain areas and we have players leaving.

We do need certain players in certain areas that not only suit the style of play but improve on that position.

There are several areas we need better players. A LB, Cm and an RW/RWF would be places to make signings but we do nerd better and less injury prone CBs. We are not that great defensively really. De Gea has saved our skin many times.

Utd neee quality in other areas.. Not point in continuing throwing money at attacking players when you could do with a quality RB, LB, CB & CM.
