Matip needs games to find his top form, but seems to be way too injury prone.

Can't seem to play 2 in a week either, could do with a quality partner for VVD and start bedding Gomez in there too with Matip as cover/rotation sell Lovren and Moreno.

Lovren is better than Matip, but it's close

Lovren errors have been more glaring. Reminds me a lot of Skrtel where they can have that world class game but will follow it up with a brainfart. Skrtel was better than Lovren though.

Lovren is decent on the deck though, very decent for a cb, and that's a big part of our game. I think he's been okay this season, Matip less so, but I will not be upset if we bring in another cb to start alongside VVD.

With Lovren you know a mistake is coming. Players around him know it too. So everyone gets nervous. He doesn't install confidence at the back. Look at VVD players give him the ball and move up as he takes care of it no nonsense. Lovren everyone including the crowd think oh boy better take a step back just in case. Hence the nervous tension.

Pretty much my thoughts Robbing.

Hopefully with top 4 more or less assured we might see Gomez get a few games with VVD.

Lovren has to play against City though. It would be in keeping with his career with us if he scores the winner.

Losing Matip is a big blow for me, just hope Lovren can keep the brain farts to a minimum.

Matip is our best defender after VVD and Lovren is some way behind IMO.
