Last season we finished 6th and were very inefficient. This season we are playing a lot worse and are scoring more and conceding less despite creating a lot less chances and allowing tons more chances against us.
I remember people praised Conte back 3 system etc last season and how great he did but it was all about the high efficiency that won them the league. Chelsea are actually playing much better this season then last season.
Having far more shots and shots on target but scoring a lot fewer goals. The strange thing is Chelsea even very wasteful this season are far more clinical than Man Utd were last season lol which makes you realise how shocking we were in front of goal last season.
If they had kept Costa they would most likely be in the top 4 but instead they got rid and can't score the goals they need to win. The strange thing was if you swapped the conversion rate last season Man Utd most likely won the league and Chelsea would have finished 6th. This season we are garbage compared to last season and are 2nd vs 6th while Chelsea are miles better than last season and are 5th vs 1st.
Efficiency and luck plays a key part in football. Chelsea know about that the most after fluking the fa cup and CL in 2012 despite probably having around 200 shots less then the oppoisition in the run to winning those competitions lol.

Shots don't really count, only goals. The stats don't tell à story, you can scuff a shot, hit it straight at the goalie, land it in row z, and you've had 3 shots. You can have one tuck it inside the post and voilà. Statistics only ever tell half a story.

[Quality of/success in football] are directly correlated with [Number of shots on target]

Definitely not better than we were last year, but we are very wasteful.
