The March Surge

Something has been happening every March since Klopp has been our manager. A player comes out from the doldrums to stake a place in the first team around this time and looks undroppable.

In Klopp's first season Lovren had the best 2 months of his footballing career from around March to April.

Last season we had Mignolet have the best period of games we have ever seen him play as well. We finally got strong, commanding and focused performances from our goalkeeper. We honestly thought he finally turned a corner.

This season, whilst Karius has been very impressive, I have to give it to James Milner. James has been dominating since the Porto away fixture and he doesn't look like stopping. Can he finish his CL campaign with the most assists in a season? Despite not even being first choice throughout the campaign. Milner is God.

So we're going to play a little game, which was the actual point of this article.

Who do we think is going to be the player that comes out of the blue around March and just looks so important to us we wonder why they've never played during the first half of the season?

I'm going with Wijnaldum. I think it's safe to say that if we only include the arrival of Keita to our midfield then it's most likely that Wijnaldum will be the one to drop out of favour. Henderson's role is cemented as things stand, especially if Can leaves. Ox looks to have certified himself as well with some strong performances in big games. Keita will perform the role Wijanldum currently plays. Not that Wij has done much wrong...he just doesn't impose himself. Keita will likely have more impact both defensively & offensively. I liked Wij's performance at Everton though. They gave him space and he duly obliged.

Milner should be a certainty to be on the plane to Russia, will he even go though?

I hope not.
Couldn't care less about England - I would be perfectly happy if none of our players went to the WC tbh.

Fresh legs?

I mean milner hasn't played a lot of games pre-christmas whereas last year he was out on his feet.

IMO we are looking at very few options to come in now.

He said he’s not coming out of international retirement, so it’s a no go and I can see why. When the others were on int duty he was sunning himself in Dubai playing golf with his mates.

TAA.

Think Clyne will start next season as first choice RB thus he’ll see slightly less game time but the kids got talent and I’d predict he’ll have made the position his own by the end of 18/19.

With regard to Clyne, he and Ings got a right battering after Saturdays game from some of our alleged fans. While they're perfectly entitled to their views and their right to express them, to criticise these two players, Clyne playing his first game of the season, Danny starting his first game since Oct 2015 defies both belief and logic.

Give these guys a chance people. I expect - and hope - each to be on the bench at least tomorrow.

It's no coincidence that Admin2 'left' just after the advertisement money started coming in.
