Drinkwater...

With rumours of his unsettled time at Chelsea and consideration towards his future next season, would we table a bid if Chelsea were selling?

* also the telepathic understanding of where Vardy is on the pitch and the type of ball he needs would benefit both.

Why go backwards (rather than sideways) i would rather have someone who can score more than once a season.

I’d rather have a midfielder who can win the ball, hunt the ball inteligiently as part of a pack, pass sideways and forwards, understands the runs of the forwards and provides a lot of assists. But each to their own Nev 👍

You right but that was Kante. obviously can't do it now or why aren't Chelsea picking him?

Another pint on this. Drinkwater has always struck me as a potential negative impact on the squad if he’s not playing.

He always made noises of discontent when he wasn’t in the team.

There no guaranteeing him football so he may pull others down with him if that happened.

Also, why on earth did he leave? Did he really believe he was at the level of Kante, Fabregas and Willian and would be a regular in that Chelsea team? It was a strange move and the outcome was pretty obvious to me.

Silly Danny!

What did Nigel describe him as i don't want to be accused of all Nev fact on it but it was something about being interesting ?

Nev - I'm trying to remember the exact quote myself; it was something along the lines of having an interesting personality. And that was coming from Nigel Pearson.

Mersey - I reckon he left in the first place because he got the call from his agent to say that Chelsea were interested and he didn't want to be left with a "what if" feeling, i.e. he didn't want to look back in his career and regret turning it down. Of course now he knows otherwise, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The timing of his move to Chelsea was bad. He was injured without a proper pre season, then walking into a political minefield at Chelsea. But this was his chance to move to a top 4 (?) club, he’s getting on and Fabregas legs seemed to be going at the end of last season, plus Matic was off. He shouldn’t have moved until fit, but with the World Cup coming looks like he took a gamble.

In terms of personality he’s always seemed introverted, almost shy with interviews. A lot of people in my industry are like that (without sounding like JG) which means they tend to talk 121 and in small groups, seeking individual feedback and confidences. Compare that with what you’d expect of Pearson and more outgoing members of the squad and you could call that ‘interesting’ or calculating. I’m not in the know so could be wrong and there may be more to it, but I don’t think there are that many introverted footballers based on what they do weekly and other football experts don’t know how to interact with them.

The closeness of a small squad is probably optimal for him, ala Leicester or Barnsley.

He’s a talented footballer, some of the intricate play and through balls for our forwards. Plus his positioning covering in right back one moment, being on the edge of the opposition area the next dragging the ball back i has been forgotten.

I think Drinkwater is a better option in a midfield two, at the moment, than Iborra and Silva. I think the latter two have qualities, but they haven’t yet shown an all round game as good as Drinkwater but maybe that will come.

At the moment, judging them solely on what they have done so far for us, I see them as part of a midfield trio which is not a bad thing as it’s quite commonplace now and may be something that Puel is looking to move towards anyway.

My View is that he thought that CS wasn't going to work and the chance of linking with Kante and a big club who had just won the EPL can blame him.
He might as well wait until the new manager comes in.
He was a big fish and the shop steward imo in our small pool it must be a culture shock at Chelsea.
