🎉(P)Wolves v Blues🎉[LIVE]

It’s official, and already the ‘cosy club’ top six in the premier league are shaking in their boots.....but, like it or not....the greatest match thread on earth is coming to the premier league !

One match ban enabled

And we’re not gonna just be there to make up the numbers, we’re coming to compete

Promoted Wolves will look to add the Championship title as they play host to Midlands rivals Birmingham City.

Brentford's late equaliser at second-placed Fulham ensured Wolves' return to the Premier League and they will go up as champions if they win at Molineux.

Relegation-threatened Blues hope Sam Gallagher is fit after the calf injury that has kept him out for a month.

Without the on-loan Southampton player, boss Garry Monk has just one recognised striker in Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Che Adams serves the final game of his ban, which could mean Jeremie Boga starting out of position again up front.

Monk's side, who pulled clear of trouble with a timely run of straight wins, have picked up just a point from their last two games.

But they are guaranteed to go into Sunday's derby still outside the relegation zone as 21st-placed Bolton and 22nd-placed Barnsley face each other the previous day.

Match facts

Wolves have won only two of their last 10 home matches against Birmingham in all competitions.
Last season's 2-1 home defeat, in which ex-Wolves man David Davis got the winner, was one of only two wins for Gianfranco Zola in his 22 games City boss.
But Birmingham have only won two of their last 11 league meetings with Wolves, the most recent meeting being a 1-0 home defeat in December, when Leo Bonatini got the most recent of this season's 12 goals.
There has been a red card in each of the last three Championship meetings between the clubs - all three for Birmingham (Jack Storer, Paul Robinson and Harlee Dean).
Garry Monk is the seventh different boss to manage in this fixture since the start of 2016-17 (Walter Zenga, Gary Rowett, Paul Lambert, Gianfranco Zola, Nuno, Steve Cotterill and Monk being the others).

Bonatini has mirrored the form of Iwelumo when we last went up and shouldn't be considered on a full time deal. We can buy better players who can still do all the link up play but with more of an end product.

Afobe maybe but only as backup and not on a long term deal.

Its still a no from on Afobe me. I would thank him for his efforts (he has done what we brought him here to do) and let him go back.

We already knew he can score goals at this level, but his all round play doesn't quite fit the system and he has been found wanting in a footballing side at Premier League level before. He wanted to leave Bournemouth for first team football and I don't think he will get it here next season if we go out a make a marquee signing in that position.

I wouldn't be too bothered if we did sign him, but given the choice I'd say no.

The thing about Afobe is that you can see that he plays like he "doesn't belong". Whether that is a residue from the fall-out the last time he was here, I don't know. Sad how it's turned out, and his goals have certainly been useful.

It was notable when the players were doing their lap of honour yesterday that Afobe was often seen to be on his own seperate from the main group of players. Not really sure his face has fit regardless of the football debates

Any news on Cav's injury?

Looked like a hamstring which would mean we won't see him again this season.

OMG! That's terrible news.
We need one more point and only have 3 more games against the teams in 20th, 16th and 24th in the league. Do we think we will do it without Cav

I see Garry Monk has decided not to appeal the red card after all. I guess he has watched the video replay and realised that it wasn't just 'mistimed'.
