Bury have lost 7 in succession and following the latest one, also the faith of their manager. Until yesterday though in going down to close relegation rivals Northampton, they had not conceded more than 2 in one match for a long time. They have spent many weeks at the bottom and currently their form is the worst in the league.
Before their 1-1 draw at Swansea, West Brom’s record was very similar yet we know what they did to Man U today and from what I saw they were the more effective team.
Bury may not have won for a while, but it would be wrong to conclude that they are incapable of doing so and released from the worry of trying to avoid relegation and home fans’ expectations they may well give us a good game, especially if we cannot summon the necessary effort and/or feel the need to walk the ball into the net.
We have however proved difficult to beat and up against some decent teams too, so realistically the best Bury can produce may not be good enough to take anything from us even if we do not shine at our brightest.
My guess would be 0-2 and Beestin with the first goal with 8500 there.

At 2-0 up we were cruising. Then an unfortunate own goal - Mason had to try to head it away and, after all, it was a superb centre - and the nerves started to creep in. In the second half Bury began to make inroads by getting the ball forward quickly, something we really didn't do throughout the game, leading to a daft penalty caused by Blair letting a player get on the wrong side on him in the area. Time and again we lost the ball upfield and Bury raced down the pitch until, inevitably they got a third goal. Looked a tad offside, but the ref didn't agree. Blair was hooked off for Kiwomya, presumably as the manager thought his head had gone down and later Copps made way for Kongolo. Neither had much impact and Marquis looked mightily unimpressed with some of Kimomya's running, or the lack of it. We were saved by a late header from Boyle. A long way from the best game of Alfie Beestin's career but he got MoM, probably for effort. Rowe is wasted playing as a defender and we have a soft centre. For me Houghton and Whiteman are not the answer. At the start of the season I would have been pleased with 54 pts and games to play, and we didn't lose...but we should have won big.

Butler and Boyle were good - couldn't fault them. Fergie says that Marquis is carrying a hamstring pull. You wouldn't know it - he always gets stuck in. Blair had one tremendous run to the by-line in the first half but faded badly. Beestin didn't shine but, to be fair, Bury marked and harried in a way that we didn't - hence my comment about the soft centre. I wondered why Fergie didn't bring on McCullough to put his foot on the ball for the final half hour. Odd.

If Marquis's hamstring is dodgy why not give him a rest and put Williams in the shop window?
They talk about Kiwomya's speed, but I have been unimpressed by him; he seems rather lazy and does not seem to want to get involved. I cannot think of any other in the squad like him in this attitude. After providing the cross for Marquis's goal at MKD, they were rather cool (in the old-fashioned sense) towards each other in the "celebration". Ben Khemis seems really keen to get on the ball and commit, although I have only seen him on video. Why doesn't he get a proper chance?

I did get back from my bank in time to see the game - good job or I'd have missed the good parts! After about 8 minutes I thought we'd win about 6-0, and if Marquis shot had gone in and not hit the post, I think we would have. It is hard to believe we fell apart as much as we did after "their" first goal - a great header from Mason if he had a different colour shirt on!
As I see it, Blair is not a full back (see penalty), and neither is Rowe when dropped to that position (see out of position for third goal - but obviously it was offside from what I saw on iFollow, but what do people at the game think?) I'm looking forward to Andrew being back on the left, and Mason is certainly better on the right than the left. However, how about giving Alcock another chance on the right? I've not seen enough of Garrett to comment on him.
I'm amazed that Williams has not been given any minutes at all, and our French-Tinisian should be given a chance.

To add to what others have written, the third goal was scored by a player who was two tards(no egageration) offside.
The linesman is not even in picture as the ball is played across goal.
The scorer looked twice afte4 netting to see if he had got away with it.
Up to the own goal we had dominated a really poor Bury team but after the pen they had something to hang on to.
The belief that our players had shown in themselves in the first half hour dissapeared and we became very ragged.
Kywomya looks totally lightweight.
I have said this before on vsc and have been shot down.
People have said (quite rightly)that he is coming back from a serious illness and it could be affecting him but if that is the case then he shouldn’t be on the pitch right now, not in first team games anyway.
Man if the match by a country mile was Marquis, he is a 100% player every week and a fine player too.
Definatily two points dropped and possibly with them our hopes of a top ten finish.

It is harsh to criticise players in their first few games and I assumed there was something I was missing about Kiwomya. Perhaps he was nervous and still weakened by his illness, but he has never seemed to get out to the wing and to fulfil the role of speedy wide man which DF seems to perceive in him.
Mandeville who has shown far more talent was cast aside for less and May is a little dynamo in comparison.
You cannot run a team on sentiment and putting someone in who does not give it even 75% is not good for morale.

I think it is fair to say that blair has not been very good.
Mason best position is RB.
Garrett did quiet well wen he played at LB and he was improving so why did the mason rb garrett lb idea get scrapped.
Blair was my player of season last season so im not being personal about it.

I am never enthusiastic about doing the results after a disappointment like Tuesday's and crowd estimation also proved difficult except for Uthred and Azza.
