Winning without playing

Guys, just tagging the two Manchester clubs because City just won it and United won it most. All fans invited to comment.

This is no wum article.

How does it feel to win without playing? Is it less explosive and spontaneous then when you win the title when playing? I can imagine the eruption is bigger when you win your own match to clinch the title.

We won it last season in our last match. Man, Rotterdam exploded. PSV won it at home this weekend, at their own turf against Ajax, the number 2. Eindhoven erupted.

Did United win it often when not playing?

City fans, was it weird to win it without playing? Will the party be just as big next time you play at home and get crowned champions? Did you watch the United game?

Cheers.

It’s what sometimes happens when the league is won with five games to go. Absolutely it would have been better last weekend, but it’s still winning the title and in joint record time.

It’s a reflection of the whole pl season really, we’ve been relentless in picking up points without any real dramas (aside from the game last week). It’s actually quite nice for it not to have the stress of being the last game, the Aguero moment was more than enough for me in that regard!

There is still things to go after too. I, like quite a few fans, put a bet on us to break the 100 and the 104 goals at very good odds, so I’m hoping we don’t let up in the last few games!

I think Pep would like to break records. So he would tell his team to go out and do it.

Also Melton, what's your thought on losing those 4 matches in a row? Such a weird dip all of a sudden.

I think the 4 City fans celebrating outside the Etihad may have preferred to win it when they were playing.

Three wasn’t it Feyernoord?

It was very disappointing clearly, although there were moments in all three where our performance levels were right up there still. I thought the game against Spurs we were excellent in terms of our reaction to the week that had been. Ultimately, we do still have a bit to go in terms of maturity in some of the players, who are still very young, and cover for one or two who have ran themselves into the ground (Fernandinho in particular).

The one good thing I think that come from it is I hope it helps for next season, in terms of complacency not setting in. The pl hasn’t been retained for a while but I think we’ll have a very good chance again next season.

Last game of the season Spurs were playing away at United and Arsenal home vs....forget who.

If we beat United and Arsenal won then Arsenal won the title.

Spurs went 1-0 up. I cheered instinctively but was happy when we lost. We were gonna lose anyway, we were total sheet, but the worry was always there that we'd do some classic Spurs banter like win to give Arsenal the title.

We went out and lost the match. I felt good for denying Ajax, but also felt like a prostitute for losing that match when we shouldnt have.

Winning the title is great however it happens, but there is a greater release if you win it when actually playing a game. When that final whistle goes and you know you are champions it is a great feeling.

When your final whistle went we knew we were champions also the added bonus of a 3/4 empty old Trafford and the West Brom fans giving it large 😂😂😂😂

Had an Aguero moment this wasn’t as good but seriously funny and enjoyable.

As I said, winning the title any way is great. I just always thinks it takes a bit of the shine off when you win it without playing. Ultimately it doesn't matter, as it will go down in the history books, but after all the hard work over the course of the season, it is a bit of an anticlimax.

there were a number of potential scenarios before the Spurs game ,and some of them were very unpleasant, getting it done is the only thing that matters

After last week it was no anticlimax believe me, just the opposite.
