International Champions Cup 2018

ICC 2018 fixtures have been announced.

From the humble 8 team US preseason tournament it started as in 2013 the competition, for want of a better word, has grown massively. From a decent showing of about 400,000 spectators and minimal TV coverage in 2013 there are now 18 of the worlds biggest, richest and most well known teams playing across 20 stadiums on 3 continents. Attendance figures and TV viewership are set to hit record levels.

Today they announced the fixtures and the list of teams is very impressive.

Madrid, barca, Atletico, Seville, Munich, Dortmund, PSG, Inter, AC, Juve, Roma and benfica are joined by the top 5 teams in England and Arsenal too.

Some tasty fixtures. Might have to nip down to Charlotte for the LFC v Dortmund Game.

LFC v Manu is likely to draw a crowd of close to, if not more than 100,000.

Arsenal may end up pulling out, however, as if Burnley nip ahead of them in the league, Arsenal (barring Southampton winning the cup) will start their Europa season on July 26th, the same date they are schedueld for their glamour, uefa cup revenge friendly against Atletico.

What’s the point if this cup? Should be renamed. Most of these teams aren’t champions,l

Good point. Similarly I would say it is nigh on impossible to take a drink from the World Cup
