The truth about Spurs...

With the usual post-match hysterics as can be seen by Poch-era Spurs fans, there are a few home truths which highlight the issues we have with the current team. Mainly being:

We are not as good as we were.

Spurs teams in the 15/16 & 16/17 seasons bullied teams because we didn't come up against a midfield that was better than ours, or a fullback pairing that was better than ours. Our system depends more heavily on fullbacks & midfield than any other position IMO.

Since then we have regressed at RB, LB (as good Davies is), Dembele has regressed massively giving us only 3/4 good months a season, and Sanchez (as good as he is) is a MASSIVE step down from Alderweireld.

This, ultimately, has been a season of transition for us and wherever we finish within the top 4 would be a good job. An FA Cup win would be excellent but its next season we need to push on with the signings that we so desperately need (CM & RB).

Glad Rashford is starting tonight, big chance he won’t be on Sat - would definitely poo the pants of Tripps.

Yeah, Sanchez is clearly a level above.

Mourinho said if players perform today they’ll keep the place for Saturday.

We haven’t regressed it’s juat that the teams around us have spent millions or billions to get quality players in.
Also having no real home stadium this year has had a massive impact on us .

Feel like we’ll always be a few players away from where we want as the club is more than happy to let our best players leave. It’s just the nature of the beast, with our wage structure it will always be difficult to keep a settled squad.

We had same for a long time Too and still can have top players poached. But the PL is becoming such an attractive option for top players now so replacing isn't as difficult as it once was.

Spurs have to offer better wages at some point though.

It’s more the fact that we built our strongest XI arguably 3 seasons back and we haven’t improved the first team since then.

Hence why depth wise we are better and play better, but with the older players regressing and losing our RB we can’t ‘quite’ hit the levels we want to

totally agree been saying this on here for ages, now I hear that Vertonghen has contract issues too, Levy really needs to get his priorities sorted or we will always be the nearly club

not regressed, well standing still then its the same because others are progressing, getting better

Your 15/16 side could easily finished outside the top 4 if both Manchester Clubs didn't bottle last 3 games. I know Spurs bottled last few games as well but still you where nowhere near the title that season. Your 17/18 side is much stronger then the 15/16 side you had.

Yeah we haven't regressed or progressed. Yet. We only need 3 more wins out of the remaining games to equal the same win percentage as last season for all competitions. If we win the FA Cup though and finish with top 4, that's a better season than last season for me and progression, as we will have won something and done it by overcoming a big team(s).
