I don’t think we have played Oxford United for a very long time, but in any case, history is very short in terms of footballing fortunes. Looking at recent match scores, they have not done well, but when you see who they have played their form falls into a more favourable context. They have failed at Wigan, Shrewsbury Portsmouth and Rotherham in the last 10 and have not won away since putting Charlton down 7 games ago. Against seemingly less formidable opponents they may see tomorrow as a chance to turn things around and ease their fears of the drop. 13 matches ago they were looking down from 10th place, so there will be increasing pressure for them to arrest the slide. Perhaps we can dissllusion them, but we will have to be convinced that it is more important to us than it seemed versus Bury.
I think Marquis should be allowed a rest and Williams started and the Tunisian pharmacist given a run. We must have it in us to win, so let’s hope there will be appropriate effort. I’ll be optimistic and say 3-0 and depending on who starts nominate Williams – Rowe – Copps for goal number 1 and 7300 attending.
I’ve included the Blackburn game and will make my own comments on that after Saturday.

I'm afraid I've not grown enough optimism, and so Donny 1 Blackburn 2, Copps to score, and 8231 in attendance. Somehow, I had a feeling Lawlor would have been given a game, but not so, and no Chemist on the bench?

Cracking game. All is forgiven! Blackburn are clearly a class side, and hard as well, but for 80 minutes the chaps kept them out. There were also sections of the game when we managed to hold the ball and give them some problems. Why can't we play like that against the mediocre sides? The other results pretty much went our way and unless Oldham not only win their final games, but also do so by big margins, we will be in Div One next season. As it now matters not a jot about our league position is it time to blood some fringe players?

Blackburn were a good side, and as Albi said, a little hard - poor Alfie needs to put on some weight so he can throw it around a little! He was bundled off the ball too many times.
It is a pity the goal, yet again, came from a set piece. However our lads played with 100% effort for the whole game, and although we rode a little luck at times, defended very well.
We played some good football at times, and also made their GK make one or two smart saves. Pity Mason did not give his header some direction near the end.
Let's take Mr. Wellen's team to task on Saturday and make ourselves mathematically safe! (you really have to watch the spellcheck as it changed Richie to Mr. Wellness!)

Fantastic effort by the lads last night but Blackburn’s quality showed that we are quite a way from competing for the top spots next season.
We do have some very good players but need to add better in some areas.
Also the high tempo of the game last night improved us going forward.
Against lesser teams than Blackburn we are often too pedestrian in our build up play.
Another end of season collapse is also a strong possibility right now with Oldham and Wimbledon needing to beat us to stay up and then Wigan on the final day possibly needing a win to secure the title.
