My favourite non Liverpool manager

A clear gulf between his first decade and his second. Those first 10 years were so impressive though.

I cringe when I read of my fellow Reds pouring scorn on those Arsenal fans for their abject treatment of their Arsenal manager.

To those same fellow Reds I say two words before shutting up my self.

That's not fair mate, you give praise all the time. To yourself.

Good article though, completely agree. I think those under a certain age don't understand what Wenger did for the game. How he transformed an old boring team into a young exciting one. How he changed how the rest conduct their transfer business by picking up young players from youth teams for peanuts, turning them into good players and selling for massive profit.

This became more difficult when others started doing the same and he hasn't been able to compete with the oil clubs and United's spending but he still picked up the odd trophy. Hopefully he wins the Europa and leaves on a high.

I think we will be hearing in the near future of stories of boardroom fighting and how they hampered him more and more towards the end.

Yeah, for sure what he achieved was great, but would you really say he was easily the best foreign manager the pl has seen? If you think he’s the best that’s your opinion, but to put him head and shoulders above everyone else is a little too much.

Think I wanted to stress as well as him being an amazing manager he has also managed to keep humble and seems like he’s a very intelligent, charming man who I for one will really miss. I think the man will be lost as Arsenal has been his life

They should kick Southgate to the kerb and give Wenger the England job.

Wenger, won more trophies managing arsenal than West Ham have in their history.

Great FA cup record, doubt it will be beaten.

I just don’t agree with what verbal jouster said about him being “easily” the best foreign manager the premier league has seen. That’s an insult to some of the other great foreign managers that have managed in England.

Good manager but way over rated.

As to the nutritional stuff he brought to English football well we were in the stone ages here but over in Europe the importance of eating properly was already well known so it was hardly wenger's doing.

All in all a good manager but one of the greats?

No Champions league wins and very little progression in that competition, and only 3 League titles in 21 years.

Not for me.
