We should have won something this season. Its Pochettino's fourth year.
We should be playing Chelsea in the tin pot final.
But no, we're hoping they don't catch up to us for fourth spot in the Prem!
Yes .... it ain't over yet, and it could get worse.
Then the floodgates will open when the players agents start with "time to move on".

Truth is we had a better team last seaon.
Despite his opinions on the market, Levy has been forced to break the club records to buy Sanchez. Levy follows what he thinks is a good strategy of buying at the last possible moments of a transfer window.

So he recently he paid far more for Aurier at the last minute when PSG wanted rid of him, than a really good RB, Toljan, would have cost earlier in the window. Toljan ended up at Dortmund for a bargain.

I agree with Levy's opinions to some extent. Players earning 6, 8, 10 million GBP per year seem "overpaid". But they dont retire at 65, they retire at 30, 32 or maybe 35.
Of course, ATM they can then go to the USA or China and earn more.

But the poor old Spurs fan like me who would like to see the club win something, even the FA tin pot, or heaven reward us with the Euro Champions League one day, may die first!

Toljan seriously? He isn't a starter at Dortmund either and I bet if we ended up with him there will be people going on about us buying potential etc. and missing the opportunity to sign Aurier.

Top four is more important to the club, but I ain't the club I am a supporter, so winning trophies has to always be the most important thing for any supporter, otherwise what is the point of supporting any club?

---------------------------------------------

You want to come across as a dedicated Spurs fan who has supported them over the centuries, who only watches them when it comes to anything football yet you've clearly admitted not wanting what is best for the club just so that you have bragging rights as a supporter.

If it's important to the club and you don't care because you're not the club but a supporter then why care if we win a trophy since you're not a player with a medal to show for it.

Doesn't make sense.

Also, everyone wants to win a trophy and be successful but it's not black and white. We don't have unlimited resources to get there quickly nor do we want a fluke win with mediocre seasons thereafter.

If you look what's happening with the coach at Dortmund Toljan has been frozen out even though he can play both RB and LB. Now Napoli, one of the best clubs in Europe, are after him.

I wish we had him instead of Aurier - and he would have cost a lot less!

Sorry mate, I just don't get your point. Spurs have their best side/squad for many years, and you are giving excuses about funding. The team is not delivering when they should be.

Nothing to do with funding why they didn't turn up for yet another big match at the weekend, against a team they played off the park just a month or so previously.

To many of our supporters are giving the manager and the team an easy get out for failing to deliver when it really matters.

Spurs have been a top two, three, four Prem club for a while now. Only so many excuses for failure to win trophies can be given. Money cannot be endlessly used as an excuse, especially as Spurs look like they have become a regular CL team now.

Top 4 meant £50m to Spurs this season. Winning the FA cup an additional £2.5m or thereabouts in prize money. The former is therefore way more lucrative. The FA cup is crickets Ashes. Doesn't pay much but means a lot. Shame that some at Spurs have forgotten that. They have also forgotten that to win bigger prizes needs practice winning smaller ones.

We have to be careful we don't adopt the Mouser approach, whereby when we win a trophy it is trophies that are more important, and when we finish in the top 4 and win nothing it is CL that is then more important.

Yes, this is the best Spurs side for a while but it is still behind the clubs at the very highest level - especially when it comes to anything outside out strongest XI - which even then has it in them to screw up.

Nobody is happy that we haven't won a trophy but there's differences in reaction. We all want to do well but must understand that we've improved yet again and be aware of the limitations we still have.
