RIP Richard Bate

One of this country’s best coaches and coach educators has passed away.

I always thought of him a bit in the Revie mould, really great knowledge, really great communicator, and cared for the players.

Not seen anything announced by the club yet which is a shame as he was a key part of our coaching team from 88-92 when we won promotion and Div 1 title.

RIP

Sad that he has passed away but no real association with us for 25 years.
He was part of Wilko's coaching team and probably had a direct impact on the squad that means we will always be League Champions.
Other teams have more recent association with him https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/2018/april/dick-bate-1946---2018/
I am sure a black armband will be worn on Saturday but few will know why.

From Noel Whelan

Very upset to hear that a mentor and coach of mine has passed away . He was a great man who loved the game and always had so much knowledge to help and pass onto others. Thank you Richard for guiding me through my YTS 1st year you will be sadly missed by so many people RIP X

Bate was hugely respected by Leeds players.
