GERRARD

Just watched the press conference there. Very impressed with his attitude, confidence and generaly just how he came across.

Professional. Dignified. Ready.

Compare that to the train wreck every time Murty did an interview.

Cant looked like he was gonna burst into tears.

There will be improvement no doubt - rangers are at rock bottom in terms of playing squad - new players will come in and improve them so next year will be promising but it will be his second season where if he fails to win the league there will be rumbling - 3rd season - no title - he’ll be out with a years comp in his pocket

I'm sure he will improve a few of them , if Brendan can turn guys like mcgregor, boyata and Forrest into players then I'm sure Stevie G can do it with a few of ours

Judging by the blind panic and absolute negativity from many bhoys, this has to be a good appointment.

Exciting times :D

Well hello hello. Here we are again, new manager new optimism.

This time though, it's justified.

Looking at our previous appointments since walter and admin.

1/ mcoist - was probably wrong appointment when we went to 4th division. We needed someone like Warburton at that stage that could bring in youth to the club and get us out the divisions as they developed.

2/ Warburton - good appointment for championship. Made bad signings when in premiership, and our championship players failed to make step up to top division. Looked out his depth in the premiership but compared to Pedro debacles and wasted transfer funds , would have been better sticking with Warburton.

3/ Pedro - big mistake - brought in too many risky players. What were the board thinking. They should have extended murty at that point to end of season and got a decent UK based manager in during last summer.

4/ murty - interim manager - done his best - worked ok for a while, steadied the ship for a while, was eventually outdone tactically and lost the dressing room. Seemed like 2nd place was achievable beat Aberdeen 3 times, and drew twice with Celtic. It all imploded the last few weeks.

5/ Gerrard - so where are we. We have a squad that clearly have the ability to compete with all teams in the league bar Celtic. The squad drew with Celtic earlier in season but in recent games , nieve tactics and week players has led to Celtic dominance in the fixture.
Appointing Gerrard at this time is just what we need. Rangers squad needs overhaul but sensibly. A third to half could remain and be ok for 2nd place next year. Murty proved that. What we need is experience and leedership in key positions. That's where Gerard will add value. His contacts and leadership will hopefully raise standards and quality and he will bring a mix of leaders and youth talent into the club , that have the ability to perform on the big stage, ie old firm games. Also in places like fir park on a wet rainy wed night . We need performance in both those types of fixtures.

So I think Gerard is right appointment for right time in our journey.

Bring on the revolution!!!
