You don't really need much prior contact between clubs when there's a contract clause saying that if the player tables x amount then he is free to leave.

True, but I’m sure the club would have some contact to gauge whether or not he’s interested in joining. And I feel he very much would have based on his own words and the hints Pogba was making on social media (they’re best friends)

The transfer ban got upheld and he decided not to stitch up his club to be fair. Now Barca is beckoning (like I said a few months back VC)

I was actually referring to VC's comment about you not knowing what contact there had been.

What I was getting at is that it's neither here nor there, as it doesn't really require much contact between clubs if the one wishing to sign the player is willing to stump up the clause.

Fwiw, the player was so heavily linked, and there were his own statements too, that it seems very likely the move was on.

He then also announced he wouldn't leave because of the transfer ban, which is a degree of loyalty not all footballers would show, and proceeded to play pretty awfully until the blues wore off.

Griezmann is quality, wish we'd got him instead of Lukaku.

How could we have done that though seeing as he publcially stated he would stay last summer because of Atletico’s transfer ban?

Seems like he was our no1 target but it fell out of our control unfortunately.

Well we did ‘aspire’ to get him but it was out of our hands the minute he said he would stay because of Atletico’s transfer ban and him not wanting to f-ck them over. You seem to want to moan about things even when there’s nothing to moan about.

True VC in as much as pogbas form isn't totally down to Jose

But greizman however would most likely rate pogba as being top quality and therefore would probably be looking to Jose as the reason for his struggles. Not a great selling point when greizman is weighing up his options.

Or the chance to join United ha passed and Barca have since shown interest and are also a bigger pull to most players.
