I've read quite a disturbing article in The Times today about Brewster. Disturbing inasmuch that, having been taken on by the club from Chelsea at the age of fifteen, having refused contract offers at 17 and 18 years (if he's reached that age already) by LFC, he's off to Deutschland Deutschland uber alles when he gets the chance. He's not the first, a ManC boy is out there, I think on loan, as is Lookman, who when playing for Everton against us regularly and alarmingly skinned Trent time and again.
Is the club doing enough to keep such young talent? Harry Wilson, for me, is a bolt-on for at least the squad next season. Woodburn? Tad yet too young? (If he's good enough, he's old enough and vice versa).
It is a disturbing thought that we could lose Rhian so easily. Perhaps no wonder Jurgen was singing his praises too when he was congratulating Mo on his FWPOTY award.

What does Danny Ings do other than take up squad space?
Personally, I'd sooner have an exciting youngster like Brewster waiting for his opportunity.

It must be agents behind these moves though.
I don’t believe for a second that 17 year old lads are thinking ‘I really want to go and play in Germany’ off their own back.
Not that Germany isn’t appealing, but come on, there’s no way a collection of 17 year olds independently are having this idea.
I don’t know what the benefit is to agents as opposed to their lads signing a contract with English clubs, but there must be one.

There's plenty of time for an agent to make a killing off a 17-year-old.
Imo, the reason is that other players have taken the dive, and it's gone well for them. Others are sitting up and taking note.
The Bundesliga is a very good and, Bayern aside, extremely league. It also offers far more opportunities for youngsters, and successful BL players get plenty of opportunities nowadays to sign for PL sides.
It just looks like a smart career move right now.

Bit early to say it’s gone well for anyone to be honest.
Sancho has played a little bit.
Lookman has done alright (on loan).

He might have had his opportunity had he not been injured for 4 months.

People mentioning Ings and Solanke because of their game time and that’s fair enough.
I think Brewster’s bigger problem is the faith Klopp seems to have in Ben Woodburn. They’re not so far off in age and only so many kids are going to break through at any one time.

Sorry if it's been said before but I suspect it's a few things.
1) The technical level of English youth is improving as shown by our youth levels performances at their respective international level
2) The coaching, footballing opportunity and lifestyle at the club's like Red Bull, Dortmund, etc is good. I doubt parents will mind the seemingly less alcohol driven temptations either.
3) The resale value on an English player who reaches a quality level is absolutely massive

It’s too early to say it’s gone well regardless.
He’s played 12 times.
Sancho’s was always a more understandable move anyway. City have a mega squad and unlimited funds. The first team path is probably harder there than anywhere in the world.
That argument is not the same with us.

I think it's just that foreign clubs want our youngsters more because they're getting better tbh. No one bats an eye lid when English clubs buy teenagers from abroad so I think it's a good thing really.
Here's a list anyway

Yep, I said earlier that they are targeting our youth players due to how good they are.
Atm we have the best 18 to 20 year olds in Europe
