Matic- 7.5

Bit of an uninspiring signing at the time but he’s definitely made us more solid in midfield. Calm on the ball and protects the back line well. Not the most exciting player but we are better off with him than without him. Arguably our best outfield player this season.

Lukaku- 7

He’s been ok. Scored a decent amount of goals in all comps. His all round game has improved as the season has gone on imo. Also seems to have a great attitude 16 league goals and 1 goal vs the top 6 needs to be improved on though but he has time on his hands.

Lindelof- 6

After a tough start he has settled down well. Don’t think he was signed to be 1st choice immediately but has look like a good player in the last 6 months. Interesting to see how he will kick on now. Hasn’t played enough big games to get a clear picture yet but has looked promising.

Sanchez- 6

Hasn’t had the impact we had hoped for and maybe even a 6 is generous and he seems to be either very good or woeful. Has 4 MOTM performances but a whole host of poor ones. Did show up in the semi when we needed him and hopefully can do the same on Saturday. The guy is quality and there is more to come from him imo.

About right.

Matic: 7 - Really good start but like others have said, his form dropped after Xmas.

Lukaku: 8 - Unfairly criticised. Has a good goal return and made lots of assists too. I think his absence in the last 3.5 games has been noticeable. I think he'll get better and better and will be at the club for a very long time.

Lindelof 5.5 - Awful start but looks very composed. Will be a regular next season.

Sanchez 3 - A downgrade on Micky and I never thought I'd say that.

Matic 7
Been decent however we need someone with a bit more pace about them imo. He is far too slow on the ball and around the pitch

Lukalu 6.5
League he hasn't been good enough for the price. 16 goals is poor for a 75m striker who is used to this league. His overall performances have improved and I love his passion

Lindelof 5
Got better but still looks shakey and can be roughed up. Needs to toughen up big time or else he won't last. A loan to another premier league club may do him good.

Sanchez 4
Been awful bar one half against city and against Spurs in the semis. Should have been dropped a few more times than he has. What i do like about hom is his workrate and positivity. Never looks to play it safe which we have too much of in our team.

Outsiders point of view:

Matic 7
Lukaku 7
Lindelof 5
Sanchez 6

Can't argue these players have taken the side from 6th to 2nd, despite some shiitt football at times.

The assessment in the OP is pretty fair. I'd bump Lukaku and Matic up half a point and Lindelof and Sanchez down half a point.

Matic has been a really important signing. Like Carrick, an awful lot of what he does tactically and positionally goes largely unnoticed. He's an intelligent and disciplined player, and I can see why Mourinho is so keen on him. I think we'll see him at number six for years.

People are focussing (not unfairly) on Lukaku's goalscoring return but neglecting to mention his overall contribution to the bottom line. I think there's only two or three PL players who racked up more goals and assists than he did this season.

Lindelof had a disaster of a start to his United career, but has started to look like he's actually a professional centreback. There's much more to come from him, no doubt.

Sanchez has been the worst of the bunch. We know very well there's a superb player in there somewhere though. And I'm sure we'll see a much better version next season. His work rate and attitude certainly can't be questioned.

The way I see it, Lukaku will be a great signing, next season he'll establish himself as The Man. The Swede's another prospect, and showed he has quality, look for next season to show his transfer as a worthwhile deal. What would we have done without Matic this season? It could have been a disaster without him. We could have signed (??) instead. Was bad mid-season, but finished better. The bad deal for me was Sanchez, may end up driving Martial out the door and was a right clusterf*ck, as well as a "Main Distraction" instead of a Main Attraction as billed. The OP ratings were fair, but Alexis will prove to be a huge blunder for us.
