Steve Walsh

Rumours gathering that Steve Walsh, who has failed to impress as DoF at Everton will be leaving alongside Sam Allardyce. For me Walsh bit off way more than he could chew at Everton. I don’t know whether he is DoF material to be honest, it’s a different job to head of recruitment where you aren’t as involved in the negotiation side.

There’s no doubt that some of the shine from his astonishing recruitment success at Leicester has gone - but if he becomes available, would you have him back at Leicester?

I personally don’t hold him responsible for the disastrous summer of 2016, he wasn’t there to rubber stamp the likes of Musa and Slimani and by that point he was not actively identifying targets - his scouting teams were.

That said, not everything he did was perfect but our recruitment has gone down the toilet since we lost him in my opinion. Macia and Rudkin are a shocking double act, so personally would love us to bin Macia off and go back in for Walsh

Shakespeare would be great as no.2 but no chance he would return while Rudkin is in charge

He won’t stay as a scout I don’t think - part of the reasons for the move up north were personal, but the other factor was the position

To go from DoF to merely a scout at Everton would be a massive step down, I think he’s best served as head of recruitment - not handing the negotiating side, which is where it’s gone so wrong at Everton. What they paid for Sigurdsson is laughable

It’s no coincidence that our recruitment has been so hit and miss since he left

Yeah - get him back in
Get Shakespeare as well

Then sack Puel and bring in the OH Leuven manager who works for King Power anyway.

Sorted!

Can you imagine John Gees face Joby?

I imagine he would apoplectic with rage for a good few seconds before remembering that he doesn't support us any more.

I’d have him back in a role across scouting and supporting the manager in a heartbeat.

He brought the players in that delivered the biggest success we’ve ever had and oversaw a hugely successful scouting network.

Would I want him as director of football? My hunch is no. I don’t think he’s displayed the political and business acumen needed in this role whilst at Everton.

Leicester legend though.

He did an okay job. The struggle with Koeman and lack of top level control allowed mistakes to be made.

He is still a good judge of talent.
