Southgate...why I agree with him.

For many years now I have been astounded with past England managers waiting for injured players to return just in time for a major tournament, then watch as those players who are clearly not fit get overun or make mistakes that cost goals. For example Beckham Vs Brazil, pulled out of a challenge Brazil broke and scored, or how about G Johnson and co being ripped to pieces by Germany after their fitness was lacking.

I absolutely hate it, its clear the world cup for instance is a short highly intense period where fitness is essential, you will get found out if your not fully fit as England have found out time and time and time again. Thank goodness then that Southgate has bucked the trend, I fully agree with him.

No matter how good lallana, wilshere etc are....in a short intense tournament if your not 100% your a liability; go with others who can last the pace..well done Gareth

Welbeck is actually great for England, hes like a J Barnes reverse!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don’t be so stupid, he is bang average and just runs. May as well play Young on the left if that’s what’s needed.

Lallana is only player with a bit of guile to open up a stubborn defending side......or dive to win a penno

Could take Calvert-Lewin for the latter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He said that he will give another group the chance to try and score a World Cup winning goal. He has plenty of time to do it again in the future.

Well whenever i have watched welbeck for England he has played well. Call him a donkey if u like but that doesnt make him a donkey.

His stats are not far off a 1:2 England ratio for goalscoring....clearly no donkey!!

A bit generous in your praise.

Tell me the best team Welbz has scored against in an international in the last 5 years? In fact in is whole career!

Rotating players in key. All the big sides have fresh players come the quarters, we always stick with the same eleven.

Because he was also a very good player. Reflecting from my question shows that Welbz record is very poor. We moved away from Rooney, so move away from another who has failed for England.

If we did that, we would have no players playing for England.

Welbeck being good for England is the biggest myth out there. Goals against SAN Marino, Malta and Lithuania make his stats looks ok. In competitive games he has only scored against Sweden of note.

I agree the Ox is much better didn't he score in the Maricana against Brazil?

I don't know why Welbeck is getting it in the neck here. He was good enough for ManU, I was surprised when they sold him. At Arsenal, like Alex O-C before him, his development under Wenger was and has been a non-event.

Pan him as much as you want, but for me, he is a very good player.

He scared re in a friendly against Belgium. If he was only held back by Wenger then get him playing
