If Rowett had say put Vydra and Palmer on at half time and we lost 2-0 people would have gone mental for changing it. You give a team like Fulham any room and they kill you. Vydra did not do a lot in the first leg.

For me the reason is pretty obvious why Weimann and Lawrence started ahead of Vydra and Palmer.

He should have at least changed it when they went 1 up. I’m not saying Palmer is the Messi but he’s a lot more effective than for the minutes he’s had.
Fulham didn’t rip us apart when we attacked more. TL wasn’t effective in the 1st hour so he should have changed it. Palmer and Vydra held onto the hall better. Giving the ball away too easily worked against us on Monday. I just understand why Rowett waited until the game was lost before he changed it.
I’d sell Vydra this summer because I don’t think he will have another season like this consecutively.
Rowett has to take the blame for getting beat on Monday. If we’d lost 3-1 on Monday at least we would have had a go. 1 shot on target is unforgivable.

Changing the subject to next season. What’s acceptable next year? For me it’s promotion anything other is another failed year.

I respect Griff’s opinion as a true fan but I completely agree with Backo here. Rowett did not cost us the game. Fulham are better than Derby. We had a chance to beat them but the odds were against it. What Rowett did gave us a chance and the players did brilliantly in the first leg. To win the second leg we needed either a second incredible defensive performance (how many times have Fulham failed to score?) or to nick it on the break. We didn’t use the ball well enough. We don’t know what would have happened with a different selection and it’s daft to assume that by doing something different we would have progressed. Lawrence was in good form in the last few games of the season and it is just lazy to try to put it all on him. I thought the team selection was reasonable in both games. At 1-1 on Monday I wanted Vydra on but probably it would have made no difference. With both Vydra and Palmer on the pitch and players beginning to tire we still did not create a fat lot.

Next season for me depends on the budget. We need to get rid of a few if we can. Got to have a buyer tho. If we sell Vyds will Rowett be given the cash? Will the Derby fans be patient if we turn to youth?

You’re right Backo. Too many variables to call it for next season yet.

In an effort to find a logical reason why GR has seemingly underused KP, I decided to look at the impact he has had on games when he has been used as a substitute. After a not very exhaustive study, the results were inconclusive, as every game had its different circumstances at the time. However, by my calculations, during the regular season, we conceded in five games after Kasey has come on as a sub. Of course, we have also scored when he has either come on has started, but on fewer occasions.
So not really decisive evidence, I'm afraid, and open to correction by Scouse, but I just thought that it might be the reason that he has not been fully embraced as a Rowett-type player

I think we will all have to be patient next season. We are in transition between failed play-off contenders - just not good enough for PL football - and a new philosophy, yet to be expounded but perhaps - using some of our youngsters and cashing in on some of our older players and investing in a new left back. That means a lot of transfer activity - more out than in, and the gamble that represents is big. That's why we will have to be patient.

Don't really know how seriously MM is when he says - no more spending? Or if he will stick to GR? I hope he does. If he brings in a new manager, he will presumably provide new transfer funding.

The last time Fulham failed to score at home was against Southampton in the FA Cup (January 2018)
