Mesut Ozil,Cenk Tosan and Ilkay Gundogan got criticised for greeting Turkish President Tayyib Erdogan. While people have the right to criticise someone,I am sick of people wanting to be politically correct all the time and getting offended with harmless actions of others. So people don't like Turkish president but what can a football player do if someone prominent and respectable comes to meet a famous footballer.Mesut Ozil and Cenk Tosun are Turks with Ozil only being of Turkish origin but not having Turkish nationality. He is German national and plays for German national team. Can someone tell me what is he supposed to do if a big dignitary goes to meet him in London where he lives? Also Ozil is a human being and he has got right to greet or like anyone who is a politician. He is entitled to his political opinions. What is the harm?Even if someone meets someone universally disliked like Trump or a controversial and bad person according to Western media--Vladimir Putin the Russian president and head of Kremlin. What can he do?Just meet a dignitary and get a picture with the visitor peacefully as he is an ambassador of his country and football club.Views?Fellow football fans?🤗Fellow Blues?Gunners?

Their choice who they meet with or support, tolerant libtards getting outraged because not everyone agrees with them as usual.

"Even if someone meets someone universally disliked like Trump"
How is he universally disliked you fool? It's only by the loony left-eye muppets like you and the BBC he's loved in America and by many in the UK also!
------
He's popular everywhere, the press just makes out everyone hates him as he is a threat to them and the status quo.

What does this stupid sheite even mean? Who is more likely to be offended by a couple of Turkish-descended, Muslim German citizens consorting with Erdogan: the "libtards" or the "Muslims-are-toxic-trojans-destroying-Western-culture" charmers on the right? Does it sound like a Daily Mail or Guardian headline to you?

I doubt Guardian readers have much love for Erdogan, both sides can be offended from their own perspective. People can agree or disagree with it, if they want to meet him it's their choice and shouldn't be bullied out of it by people who want to impose their views on other people.

I never said Guardian readers did. Point was you made it out like only "libtards" would quibble with such a meeting. The reality is German left would quibble with Ozil or Gundogan legitimizing a dictator who imprisons his opponents. The German right would question their "German-ness" in even associating with an Islamist Turk leader.
Of course it's their choice. There are no jackbooted, state-sanctioned thugs hauling them off to prison so their civic rights are pretty intact. Their civic rights don't protect them from public criticism.
