Do Sanchez and Pogba need to be moved on

for the good of the team?

If so, will the current/next Utd manager have the balls to do it. Or are we stuck playing turgid football for the next few years.

"In reality, we have the very same players. Some will have developed a little naturally; others will have regressed. But more importantly, some are suiting the style of football and specific roles that Mourinho has asked them to play; and others are not."

====================

Certainly the case and the players that have "benefitted" (I think more accurately put; "are more at home"in Mourinho's tactical set up are the defenders/defensive minded players.

I've actually defended the *ability* of the players quite a lot. And I agree with your assessment above.

The issue is of course that football is supposed to be entertaining. Additionally, we'd do well to remember that playing entertaining attacking football and winning trophies are not mutually exclusive. Fergie did it (with a healthy dose of pragmatism thrown in at the right times), Guardiola has just done it, Wenger did it, Mourinho's first Chelsea team I would argue did it. Liverpool were a glorious slip away from doing it.

You also have to wonder for how long the players really will be 'playing for the sum of the parts' when young players are shunted out for expensive star names, others are dropped for lengthy periods even after showing decent form, players are harshly dug out in public and attacking players who should be playing and expressing themselves are in a system that doesn't get the best from them.

I have to say I'll be quite surprised if Mourinho lasts the entirety of next season. I can't help but feel something is boiling up as it so often does with Jose.

The meltdown could come at any time. If he loses the players (I haven't seen any signs of this, but it could could happen, of course - it has before) that'll be it.

Mourinho, as Fergie did, demands absolute attention and commitment from his players. And if he doesn't get that, he flips, again, as Fergie did.

If he has 90% of the players on board, he'll be fine. Because that'll allow him to weed out those who won't get with his program for one reason or another and bring in more keenly compliant replacements.

As for the young players being replaced with stars, I think the fans have to be careful here. There's a balance to be made. Whilst some like Scholay are arguing that the results and finishing so many points behind City aren't good enough, they also want to see free-flowing attacking football, as well as inconsistent young players like Rashford and Martial playing every week.

To be frank, that's pretty much like wanting to have your cake, eat it and sell it at a profit all at the same time.

Sanchez looks to be in serious decline and the signs were there at the start of the season at Arsenal. People at the time were just under the impression he had downed tools at Arsenal but it looks more serious than that.
The reality is that on those wages he will most probably see the rest of his career out at United whilst regressing dramatically, unless he's paid off.

Pogba should be kept in the hope that the next manager coming in will sort out his mentality and that's all it is with him, consistency can be sorted out with the right management.

At the end of the day as most of you would agree Mourinho is the one that needs shipping out, won't be this Summer but I'm certain he won't last next season.

Martial and Rashford were putting in good performances at the start of the season, scoring goals from what I remember. Mourinho goes and Purchase Sanchez, the two lads are now competing for a spot that is already occupied by a player Mourinho is not going to bench. He plays them and expects miracles.

To go to the media and say things like, " now maybe you won't ask me why Lukaku always plays" just shows the toxic nature of the man. Mourinho really is a special manager, not only does he park the double decker bus, he also has this special ability to throw his players under the bus as well.

Rosso,

football is not as black and white as your post suggest. Start of this season, we were playing good, exciting football. Smashing teams from what I remember. We then went to Liverpool and the boring one decided to set up so negatively, that game still lingers in my mind. I don't think Lukaku is our standard, but I felt sorry for the lad that day. The formation employed, was a crime against the beautiful game in my eyes.

Since that game, we lost something about us. we were never the same again!

Your example of Park and Carrick makes no sense to me. As you alluded, they were important because we were winning! We are not winning sweet all now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We won two trophies last season, got to a cup final this season, and finished second in the league. We are winning an awful lot of football matches.

I really cannot understand people trying to beat Mourinho with a results stick when there are plenty of others to whack him with. Results-wise, we are doing very nicely.

It's very clearly all about the kind of football we are playing.

He hasn't 'broken' or trained the ability out of any single player. We just play football that makes attacking players look sluggish, careful and uninspired.

Correct. Which is incredibly frustrating.

Couples with his weird media stance.
