Nobody knows of course, we can only guess and convince ourselves of what we believe. To me though, this seasons CL final has echoes of the 81 final. (btw the last time madrid hit a CL/European final and lost, and it was to Liverpool of course).
In 81 it was an ageing madrid side Vs a younger more energetic Liverpool team, a liverpool team that was entering an era when they were about to demonstrate they are Europe's most feared team. Madrid were the past, they had their time at they were on the way down, is history about to repeat? Liverpool have one of Europe's youngest sides, madrid are entering a 3rd final in a row, arguably they are now at their weakest in those 3 finals.
Ronaldo is 33, Benzema is 31, Modric 33, Ramos 32, Marcelo 30...yes they have younger players but I picked these because they are arguably some of their most important.
Liverpool for instance have salah Vs Marcelo; Henderson/Wij Probably Vs Modric and Mane ajd Firmino Vs their back line. The Spanish league simply does not have a team like Liverpool in it; young, hungry and can destroy a team in a few minutes, the pressing stopped City, it froze Roma and simply ply blew away Porto.
Of course Madrid are a top side, but....they have yet to meet a team like liverpool
Old meets new...just like 81.

Real Madrid's ageing starting XI in the 1981 final:
Agustín, 22
Garcia Cortés, 23
Camacho, 26
Stielike, 27
Sabido, 24
Del Bosque, 31
Juanito, 27
de los Santos, 29
Santillana, 29
García Navajas, 23
Cunningham, 25
Younger Liverpool starting XI
Clemence, 33
Neal, 30
Kennedy, 27
Thompson, 27
Kennedy, 30
Hansen, 26
Dalglish, 30
Lee, 22
Johnson, 30
McDermott, 30
Souness, 28
Entering an age?
Liverpool were playing their 3rd final in 5 years, 90 minutes away from lifting their 3rd European Cup.
Madrid hadn't played a final for 15 years...
Basically, your entire premise is a great big steaming pile of bullsh*t.

He did, kneerash:
"Tbh...I hadnt checked the ages, I was going off a commentary I heard ages ago.
Never mind eh "
Dunno how young GB is, but surely he knew that you'd already won the thing a couple of times prior to '81. Brainfart moment I suppose.
I kinda regret that last line in my reply to him though. I got a bit carried away.
Soz, GB.
