On the face of it Icardi looks a glaring omission but it’s not like Argentina are short of firepower. If theyclick in other areas and win the thing then nobody will care about Icardi.

It is quite intense in a World Cup squad, spending all the time together over 4 or 5 weeks. Squad harmony has to be good, as many squads have found out.


Dybala was close to missing out as well, by all accounts. Would have been mad to have both of them missing.
