Welbeck out - Lucas Perez back in?

Those who don't know speak... so let us discuss this media story...
Besiktas- who always seem to be linked with our players but never buy them - are said to be interested in Welbeck. With a year left on his contract, and the fact he is facking Shiite, this seems plausible.

To replace him it is a player we already own. Unai Emery is apparently a fan and wants to bring him back to the first team.

Stories like this certainly warm the heart.

Swapping Perez for Welbeck is like dating Mandy Dingle and then dumping her for that lump who won Eurovision.

Neither are of the standard we should be aiming for and would always be squad players.

I agree GP

that said, our attack is decent but will need squad players for EL, LC and maybe some easier home games to rest players, so whilst these players are not the standard we want, they may prove useful for a season.

I'd rather drop the high earning reserves like Welbeck and promote the youth who can only improve whereas Welbeck and Perez will always be mediocre.

His salary alone is probably 5x what the likes of Maitland Niles for example gets

Fair point

I'd rather give Eddie a chance to be honest and get ride of both. Then re-evaluate the situation in January.

Perez and Welbeck are just not up to any sort of desired standard and they certainly won't be improving a great deal with time

Bin them both and bring in some youth of either a higher standard or at least similar but with some potential to improve (which really shouldn't be hard)

Yeah I'd go with that. Squad and a few of the first team has been full of players who have been coasting for far too long and not really caring whether they play or not and we need to ship those out.

Theo and Gibbs have gone and the likes of Welbeck, Chambers, Ospina and maybe Xhaka and Mustafi should swiftly follow. Won't happen though as I expect our new boss to want to watch them train and play before making a decision. Jan window might be the time we really offload.

I think Chambers and Xhaka have more to offer...with more of a tactical approach and a drilled unit.

agree with the rest.

Lucas was actually decent when he played for us though and his stats were good for the minutes he played. Wenger gave him the Podolski/Arshavin treatment for no reason

I wouldn’t cry if we let him go but he is definitely more useful than the likes of Iwobi

Just off Harley Street. I had a consultation on a shoulder injury at a clinic there.
