Am I the only one that thinks this is absolutely ridiculous? Villa are mugs.

That’s nothing, Ryan Giggs used to regularly skip playing for Wales because it was a friendly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf to Giggs, it's not like he would have been dropped if he'd played poorly in a friendly, he was there best player by a distance for quite a while. He also had hamstring trouble in his mid-to-late 20s, imagine Fergie's reaction to knowing he'd been sidelined for six weeks because he played in their 8-0 friendly defeat away at Italy or someone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He still turned his back on his country like it or not he turned them down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the emotional argument but from a practical point of view, there was no need for Giggs to be playing friendlies for Wales at a time when his fitness was so-so, it would have been pointless.

You would have to be a complete and utter dimwit to try and compare Terry and Giggs scenarios.
And and even bigger numbnut to agree with it.

Villa released a statement yesterday saying this isn't true.
Finger on the pulse as always OP

Does anyone seriously see a situation, were villa get promoted, the premier league fixture computer throws up Aston Villa v Chelsea first game of the season, and Villas club captain, John Terry, is sitting in the stands.
This is the man who wore a full kit and shin pads to receive a medal for a game he didn't play in FFS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you saying he didn't deserve a medal?

Akin to match fixing.

You would have to be a complete muppet to say that one player choosing who he plays against is different from another player choosing who he plays against.

Well, considering neither eventuality is apt, then that wouldn't be me.
You however, Loz, did fall into the category of dimwitedness.

I think a big issue for Giggs turning out for Wales was they struggled to cover his insurance premiums after him picking up hamstring injuries early in his career playing for them.
They didn't really have a pot to pee in back then, and it made no sense to chuck money on meaningless friendlies.

As much as I respect Steve Bruce and what he contributed to our club, I really do pray Fulham return to the PL. Who'd rather travel further to Craven Cottage than to Birmingham? I reckon a lot of us, and I've always like Fulham as a club, a great PL minnow and Villa has always been a depressing visit. JT being there doesn't help, I still feel disgust looking at that mug. C'mon Fulham! Turn the lights out and snatch a win!
