Liverpool and Calamitous Karius

Congratulations on getting to the final and great effort!

Mo Salah getting injured changed the whole dynamic of the game but Karius' performance was atrocious. He will never recover and make up for that.

Nothing to be ashamed of tonight. Unlucky.

feel sorry for salah and especially karius

salah will win trophies you feel and get other opportunities, karius wont play for a big club again and will rue this for the rest of his life

hope not, but life will suck for him

Sadly, yes. Karius will be like Ray Finkle in Ace Ventura.

But clearly there was no Plan B when Salah isn't around. Without him you become a decent team rather than a good team to be feared.

They lost their best player by far in Salah.

He's the difference for them this season so obviously it's unfortunate. You cannot account for those types of mistakes from your goalkeeper. Amateurish.

If losing one attacking player causes your team to fall to pieces it isn't unlucky, its amateurish.

No it's not. Not when the player is one of the best in the world.

I suspect you’re right. I know he’s cost us but looking at tw player, you can’t help but feel for him.

We didn’t fall to pieces though. Two horrendous mistakes that are impossible to account for was the difference tonight, along with one of the best goals you’ll ever see in a cup final. Beyond that, there was that much in it.

Stop being a d!ck.

It’s pretty clear to anyone who watched the game that Salah’s exit effected Liverpool disproportionately.

They didn’t just lose the player but until half time they lost their heads.

They regrouped a bit in the second half but you really can’t legislate for mistakes like tonight.

Unfortunately I think Liverpool’s self believe walked off along with Salah. Perhaps that shouldn’t be the case but I think it was.

Since Karius has been in the side consistently from the start of this calendar year, I thought he was improving, if I'm honest. A few iffy moments, but I thought he was improving, because he has been decent for 5 months. But tonight shows he doesn't make the cut and proves that the last 5 months of some good consistency was a mere upturn in form, rather than an improving goalkeeper imo. There are plenty of quality options available to be signed that must be on the radar surely.

Fair play to Liverpool, I thought the performance over the game pretty much matched Madrid's imo. Obviously RM controlled the game, but I think most fans expected that pattern and the opening sort of half an hour definitely showed that it was going to be a contest. But then Salah going off, as the OP rightly says, changed the game and psychologically had such an adverse effect on Liverpool and boosted RM.

Then there is the first mistake, fair enough, they pulled themselves together to equalise. But the 2nd goal, you can't do anything about world class goals like that. That quality alone deserves to win finals. Probably best to leave the third one out now.
