Chelsea is a Soap Opera

Is the usual headlines nowadays. And they’re not wrong, a point which makes reporting on this club the most easiest job in football.

The only mistake these journals make is in the positing that the drama started in 2004.

If you know your history, you’d know that CFC was created for Stamford Bridge and not the other way round. All these years, despite the odds stuck up against it, things have always turned out for the better. From battling relegations and fighting for promotion in the 80s to the lifting of the European cups and 5 league titles in the last 13 years.

In recent weeks. we’ve seen Roman banned from the UK, seek economic asylum in Israel and pull the plug on the stadium redevelopment.
We’ve seen chaos where Conte seems to be treading on the slowest march of exit ever, whilst Sarri has been told to buy his way out of his own contract.

Managers and owners come and go, Chelsea remain.

Stuff happens in football. And if you been paying attention, it often happens to Chelsea.

Chelsea will remain a circus for as long as the world’s most expensive football pitch remain under its feet.

French say that is the terroir which makes the wine.

Just enjoy the ride

Those were the days. A drive from Twickenham to Parsons green or a tube from Richmond, a pint or three and pernods all round at the Duke of Cumberland and a bar chilli con carne followed by cheeky bet at the local Ladbrokes then a wobbly walk across parsons green to the Bridge, pick up a programme and and pee myself laughing at a copy of Red Card fanzine.
Walk round the back of the heaving shed and take my place at The White Wall, cig in hand, cup of Bovril from the shack in the other. Quick slash over my Adidas Grand Slam in the Mogadishu bogs,
the sound of the tannoy announce the line ups and hear the cheers and jeers as the players are called out. Laugh at the unfortunate away fans stuck miles away from the pitch in the arße end of nowhere with no cover. Count the light blue Joey cars parked along the pitch whilst standing in anticipation and unfounded hope for a decent performance and result from the boys. Cig smoke and the smell of cheap burgers fill the air, the crowd getting anxious, standing sections swaying to and fro, the shed end raucously singing.... Then kick off.........
Then the reality quickly sinks in that this will be another long and painful afternoon for the blues...
105 odd minutes later and the exodus begins, usually despondent but occasionally upbeat after an unexpected result. The usual scuffles, the usual suspects, back to the pub, few drinks, talk bollix, turn into manager of the fackin year, back to Richmond on the lash, game forgotten, somewhere at the bottom of a pint of Stella. And repeat every other week and the occasional Wednesday evening.
Away days a different story, just trying to get in and out of places in one peice, Old Trafford, WHL, Upton Park, Highbury, Anfield, Hillsborough, Elland Road.... proper days out.
I'll always love the club for the memories, being at the FA cup final getting thumped by Utd, losing league cup games in ET in the pissing rain on a cold Wednesday evening, winning the Full members Cup but still feeling like it isn't a proper trophy, seeing us play in the Middlesex Senior Cup at Hampton FFS! Talk about entering everything in pursuit of a trophy, any fackin trophy!
This is what I remember about being a Chelsea supporter, not the titles or bling. The mates. Tge banter. The drink. The laughs. The tears.....the journey.

Sorry for the nostalgia, just sitting here in St Tropez getting all emotional..... It's the beer again

Tell you about what? That you plagiarised another person's article to try and appear intelligent on a football forum? You already know that.

Okay, I apologise. I can see now that you definitely are not trying to look intelligent.
