Why are the Scots so Bitter?

Admin - would be a great one to multi-board if possible. Just tagged the Leicester and Celtic board for now as Rangers don’t really have enough fans anymore

So lets get into this one - a proper Wednesday debate. With the World Cup coming up and Scotland once again failing to make an appearance, anti English sentiment from these ginger lunatics is at an all time high.

Not content with simply rubbing our noses in it after the Iceland debacle, The Scots are out in force again - buying Tunisia and Belgium shirts left right and centre and preparing to hand the key to the city of Glasgow (if anyone can find it) to Roberto Martinez if he puts England out at the group stage.

So I want to get the Scots perspective on this. Why do you hate the English so much? I have a couple of ideas -

1. We spent the best part of 600 years invading your country and building castles.

2. You tried to invade England but got as far as York, got a nosebleed and went home again

3. English people don’t live off fried mars bars and iron brew and generally have a better standard of living

4. Most English people aren’t ginger and the Scots hate that

5. We pretty much invented the modern world while Scotland’s most significant contribution has been Susan Boyle.

6. In international football Scotland have bottled every chance going although England are catching up quickly

7. English people refuse to wear kilts. They look ridiculous. We have also never tossed a kaber. Unless that’s a euphemism in which case I do that a lot

So Scots and English fans - let’s get to the bottom of this. Why are Scots so bitter? Why can’t they just get behind the superior nation? You should be grateful to be neighbours with such an illustrious country.

I think it’s easy to blame politicians rather than look inward.
And as for austerity, in an ideal world we wouldn’t need to do it but as you know fine well, things need to be paid and the books balanced. That’s jist a fact of life
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we taxed the banks, bankers and multinational corporations fairly the books would balance.

Mad how we as a nation are blaming immigrants, EU, this and that when it was all over the bloody news.

IT WAS THE BANKS. WE ALL SEEN THE NEWS.

THE BANKS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If only it was that simple

In a capitalist world - if you start levying more tax on corporations and banks, they then look at relocating to other countries to get a better deal. When that starts happening, the economy suffers and there is less money to go around

It’s why socialism never works. You make the rich poorer and the poor get poorer as a result.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about Scandinavia? Plus, US corporation tax was 35% until recently. Trickle down economics was disproven years ago.

We are in a very different place economically to the US - I don’t think we can make a comparison there. They have a diverse economic mix, they’re a capitalist powerhouse who have far more at their disposal than we do.

I don’t know much about how things work in Scandinavia but would be interested to know. The problem with comparing ourselves with other countries is that each economy is so different and affected by many other variables

As much as this is a wind up the reality is even us scots no longer fear England doing anything at a tournament.

There is only so many times you can build something up for it too fail. A bit like sky and their super Sunday garbage that no one cares about anymore.

I only tend to watch International football when there is a major tournament on.

I didn't realise that Scotland had a national team. How quaint!

'Bitter'.

What an utter crock of kak.

It's called ( ancient ) rivalry.

So the Leicester lads on this thread wish Derby Co well?

In each and every game and competition they enter?

Notts F and Coventry as well?

England are the World's Underperforming All Time Champions.

I sense this may the time they could actually do summat.

First time in a generation + we're not getting the 'who will we get in

the Semi Final' arrogance.

And if they play well and succeed I'll congrat the team.

Cos I love football and like seeing it well played.
